Hello to anyone that can help me,

I use to have dvd shrink and it worked fine until I had to get my computer wiped and start from scratch. I recently downloaded dvd shrink again but what it does is, it writes the dvd but won't burn the dvd. In other words it won't read please insert a blank dvdr in the drive. It just says the movie was moved to the c drive. What am I doing wrong or missing? And it is the latest version of shrink. Can someone please assist me with this matter!!!!

for one thing dvd shrink don't burn to dvd it just encodes and shrinks to fit on a dvd you need burning software to do the burning, nero works well with shrink almost by default but you can use anyburning software that supports dvd burning, so when you wiped your drive did you reinstall your burning software?

Thank you for responding,

Yes I reinstalled nero last night but its still not reponding and all its says after encoding is "All files are ready for burning at this time". So I don't know what else could be wrong. Is there any other burning software that I can use with shrink or even maybe something else all together? Let me know.

Thanks

Download Imgburn...it's free.

http://www.imgburn.com

Create an ISO with DVD Shrink and burn the resulting file to disc using Imgburn instead.

Make Sure when you hit backup, In the target device tab, you have selected drive D under Backup target. This works if you have Nero

NERO? i tried that and got confused, dvd shrink, gives you the option of burning with DVD Derpyter too.
find out where the files from dvd shrink are saved on youre computer then download DVD DECRYPTER and burn with that program. its free too.

i had some recent troubles with new dvds *shhh* don't tel anyone! lol

I like dvd decrypter better than nero.

It's as easy as 1, 2, 3 and doesn't matter if Nero, DVD Decrypter, or CopyToDVD is used.

You have to have VSO's CopyToDVD installed for the option to appear. I have the modified Shrink.exe which allows the use of ImgBurn instead of DVD Decrypter. For use with Shrink, it doesn't make a lot of difference. You select the option under Create ISO Image file and Shrink does the rest. If you select ISO Image File, it creates that and you have to burn manually, same goes for Hard Disk Folder under Create DVD Files. ISO creates an Image and DVD files are just that.

Do you have your burner drive selected under Burn with Nero? Note the pic above.

Sounds like you're using the burner drive with a DVD as the source for Shrink. A lot of people use 2 drives and never run into the problem. A way around that would be to decrypt your files to the hard drive, then put your target media in the drive and use the decrypted files from the HD as the source. That way Shrink automatically opens the burner ware and with the recordable DVD in the burner, everything is ready to go.

Using the supported burners, they're all the easy way with Shrink. Once you have the target selected, the program brings up the burning software. It's just put in a disc and wait. All the user has to do is supply the disc. They're all the same that way with Shrink, so how can one be any better than the other?

If I remember right, Shrink will still burn with Nero, even after the trial expiration. It burns at the minimum speed though. Also, I didn't think there was a limit to the number of trials a person could use. Nero is sort of bulky, but if you don't mind reloading the latest trial, you can keep using it. At least that's the way things used to work. I have a retail version, so I haven't checked that situation out in a while.

I'm afraid you did ask for that. You made a statement in a tech thread that doesn't hold true. It's not about insults. I mentioned the fact that all the supported burners are just as easy for any novices who might read the thread. If you can't support statements you make in tech threads, don't make them. From your own words you have limited knowledge of doing backups. If you knew more, you'd be using software in addition to Shrink and DVD Decrypter and/or Nero and you wouldn't be having the problems you're encountering.

omg. I did the exact same thing -- my computer wiped and then when I reinstalled stuff (that was a whole other issue), all of a sudden Shrink would shrink, but not burn. I had no idea why and it was aggrevating.

To everyone who posted an answer to this issue -- THANKS!! I soooo LOVE this forum. I don't get even half of how a computer works, but by golly, when I'm stuck on something I can always find the answer here. I didn't know you had to select Nero. My DVDs are burning like wildfire now!

Thanks again.

What version of Nero are you using? Nero 6.6.1.4. will NOT "auto burn" with Shrink. Go back to Nero 6.6.0.18 if this is the case. 6614 will burn the file, manually tho.

Excellent idea and that's your choice to make. The easy and easier situation can be explained to you by any of the experienced users of DVD Shrink. I'm not the only one who could help you. I'm sure LOCOENG and the others who know the program will tell you the same. I leave you with one question. How can clicking one selection for a supported burner be any easier than clicking on the other as per the picture I posted of Target Devices? With supported burners, Shrink handles the supported burner ware without any input from the user other than the selection. As LOCOENG said, we need to try to get along. However I reserve the right to question posts in technical threads. That's what the forum is all about. If I'm wrong, then let someone tell me where. You've gotten away from the technical issue and made a technical post a personal issue, which it shouldn't be. Have a nice day and good luck.

@SherylM
Sometimes quirky things happen, especially when PCs start acting up. Glad to see you got Shrink going again, it does a good job.

No, I no longer wish to talk to you about your posts. That was your request and I'll honor it. As I said before, I'll just reserve the right to question posts if there seems to be something questionable. That's all I was doing before. You chose not to want help in another thread. So, there is no reason for me to pursue it in your shoutbox or anywhere else. In fact there is a rule saying forum material should be discussed on the open forum. I regret you wanted to make statements about software personal, but I don't get into personal disagreements on the forum.

Good luck with your help threads and future endeavors. I hope everything turns out okay.
