which operating systems can be installed on ps3?

Yellow dog linux,dont know about the upsides as I dont own a PS3

YDL, Ubuntu & Fedora Core 5 are 3 good ones to choose from. I have FC5 on one and am debating between YDL & Ubuntu for the second one.

As for the benefits that depends on you. Do you want to use a Linux OpSys

1) More like a PC to browse the net, write reports, email, play music & videos or similar

2) To just learn the basics of how to become acclimated to "Linux"

3) Something more in depth like coding, scripts?

There are more questions I could ask but it boils down to what your experience with Linux etc.
