In my opinion, the Ps3 has not been hacked yet, not because of it's secrurity strenght, but because the price to play pirated games basically half the price of hyped games. This is a very basic caluculation:
- A bluray burner costs around 200-$300 (say $250 for a decent one).
- A blank Verbatim bluray costs around: $25
- Good games (eg. GTA IV) cost: $60.

Assuming u'd burn 100 games in ur burner (there are tons of shovelware in the ps3 by the way, so one wont be burning Hulk kind games in a $25 disk).

This makes a pirated game cost basically 30$. Personnally id rather get 1 original game rather than 2 pirated games (and most people I know agree with this, as original are more resistant to hard conditions than burnt disks).
Hence there is not really a market for chips so far.
As far as I rememeber, it's the low price of media and burners that made ps2 and xbox chips popular. U can also see it in the WII, the modchip/homebrew scene is very alive because it uses regular DVDs and regular burners.

Will you invest in a BR player to rip few good titles?

even downloading from the net is not a very feasible option; How long would it take to download a 25GB iso (or double in case of DL).
Personnaly speaking, I own a WII, ps2 + a good PC and Im really thinking hard whether to get a PS3 or XBox360 lately, (I dont like the Xbox controller), but if I ever consider getting a PS3, it'll be mainly with the intent to play only original games (in order to avoid the frustration :))

even if it didnt, it should take me 3 hours to download a ps3 iso with my connection....
