O man... While shutting down the ps3 i was impatient and just manually shut it off. Now everyttime i turn it on it tries to restore the har drive, and when it self restarts same message pops up. am i going to have to buy a new one :(

I had the same problem before. I did a full format and that took care of my problem.

thank god the hdd is sata. PLuggedi ti nmy computer, and formatted the hard drive. PHEW

How did you format it using the pc, same thing just happened to me now :(

This happened to me on Tuesday night, playing online Resistance and the screen froze and some scrolling text appeared on the top left hand of the screen, promptly switched the PS3 off at the back and when i started it up i got the corrupted message. Phoned sony straight away and i got one sent out to replace it on the thursday, i didn't fancy formatting it on the pc.
60gb launch PS3.....50" Sony Bravia.....LG 5.1 surround..... gaming heaven.

its easy, take i out. Hopefully your computer isnt too old and has sata ...
boot up to your os, right click the drive and format, i just used default settings
stick it back in and should work fine :D

Thanks for the info.
Im waiting for a phillips screwdriver as my others dont work :s
And i just brought a cheap 2.5" IDE hard drive enclousre to connect it to my laptop is 6 months old, i think i have a sata whats it like?
I cant believe ive lost all my data, thats taught me a lesson to backup my data everyweek, so everyone who reads this i advise you to backup your data.

SATA is the upgrade from IDE, i dont think that enclosure will work, your saying you want to have an extrenal hard drive to your ps3? I think thats possible, might be hard to get t othe connectors as there in that cramped space.

nah i want to put my ps3 hard drive in the enclosure i brought and connect it to my pc and format it, why wouldnt that enclosure work?

I dont have a pc i have a laptop lol, but even then i would need a hard drive adapter to connect it to the pc.
