Did you try Flashsec and DosFlash 1.3 and 1.4?

As far as flashing the LG GDR-H10N, I don't think it's going to be possible according to the link below. Maybe we have to just get a GDR-H10N in the hands of the right person who knows this stuff.

We still don't know which 8160 firmware works, or even for sure if one really does. So I would not be buying one at this point unless you get a written confirmation from megaloot4u.com that theirs will work and the firmware version. Plus they want over $50 for it anyway - ripoff in my opinion; I've seen 8160s go for $10-$20 shipped.

Also notice that the rawdump screens they are using on their 8160 page show an 8164B drive being used...

Don't buy it and if you do, write them first an get a guarantee that it will work.

Here's the label the have posted - I sharpened it a bit.

After you rip the games to your computer with a good dvd reader , can you burn the games then with an other model ?
Or has to be it a 816* also to burn ?

Try using Flashsec, DosFlash 1.3, and DosFlash 1.4 to flash the 0B10 firmware onto the drive.

I just realized I did not post the firmware versions of my working drives and it might be helpful. I encourage everyone to do the same, whether their drive is working or not, and I will keep a list of known working and not working drives in the second post of the thread. Please post the rip speed of your drive with an unscratched clean original also, and I'll chart the performance too. Round to the nearest 10MB.

The last 4 numbers are the firmware version.

Confirmed working:

HL-DT-STDVD-ROMGDR8161B0100 - rips at 2550MB/hour
HL-DT-STDVD-ROMGDR8162B0015 - rips at 2600MB/hour
HL-DT-STDVD-ROMGDR8163B0D20 - rips at 1900MB/hour
HL-DT-STDVD-ROMGDR8164B0B10 - rips at 1780MB/hour

Look at this guy, he's copied the info from here and is using it in his auction to sell 8162B drives for a complete rip off of $79 shipped. Guess some buyers don't think so...he's already had 6 purchases...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270196775374

Guys, don't spend this much, if you look around you can find them for half that much, often less...

I wouldn't pay more than $20-$30 shipped for these old DVD-ROMs.

Tried them, doesnt work either, I think someone said Flashsec needs to be coded to properly identify and flash these H10Ns as its set for the 3120's or Xbox360 drives.

I think you may be speaking to me. I am sorry, but I cannot sell you any GDR-8160's in good conscience. I strongly believe that they will not work for ripping Gamecube or Wii discs. I was offering them to UOU for testing purposes.

I bought 2 8160B's, THEY DO NOT WORK! I'm waiting on a new 8163, paid way too much for it, but if it works, so what! I'm tired of fighting it!

You said it, brother. GDR-8160b does not work. NO ONE hos spoken up and said "yes, I got one to work." UOU, if you are still interested, I have three of them, but I think you are wasting your time.

$30 Shipped? I just might do this to play around with them. PM me your PayPal address if you want to.

On much the same note, I wonder if it's these megaloot fools that started the rumor to begin with since they have 498 8160s in inventory! And, check out their email to me when I asked for confirmation if the 8160s had been tested to rip with Rawdump and what the firmware version was:

"it has been verifed...it works 100% without any failure...its usb ..it uses one of the GDR firmware...i can not tell you wish firmware it is...but i assure you that it works...we have done it many times...if u need more pictures or even a video..let me know as i can provide that for you" - megaloot4u

Hmmm...

Dude, I'm telling you these guys are full of it. Wiible was probably a shill. I opened up the 8160 and compared it to the 8161 and 8162 and the 8160 uses a completely different controller chip. Granted, they all use a Panasonic IC, but it has a different part number than the 8161 and 8162. I photoed them if you would care to see.

Anyway, my PayPal is mig17@optonline.net. May I please have an additional $6 to cover the shipping? I am not looking to make money on these drives, I just want to cover my costs because I cannot use them.

Hey check it out. GDR-8162b's. There are 4 available in this dutch auction and the opening bid is $25. Not too bad.
