So pretty much I think yes... I am using the usual command line

friidump -d X: -a

I dont know if I am using the correct command, help or a new version of friidump if there is

By the way I was offered an LG Drive... a SATA one, what do you say about this one

LG GH20-NS10

Let me know, thanks Cecy!

I don't know about the sata drives so I can't help you there.
Personally I would just stick with the "LG 8162, 3, 4" since these are known to work. They are still out there..

When you load friidump is your drive a supported drive??? I have a 8161,8163, 8082 Laptop drive. My 8161 and 8082 do not work with friidump. Only the 8163 works for me.
-d f: -a is the command I used for ssbb ( f is the location of my 8163) Also make sure the original is free of dust, scratches etc.. And finally make sure you have enough space on your hard drive so that it can store the iso.. I had a problem with that as well at one point. I got a 300GB HHD and now I wiiscrub and compress the files. 49 games compressed to 109gb. That is half what is should be uncompressed. Not bad..

Just a thought..
Can you remove friidump from your computer and then reinstall it. I really don't know if that will help you any. PM me your email address and I can send you the friidump file I have.
Sorry but I am not really a tech person..What is IDE?? Is your LG drive installed internally to the desktop via the ribbons and such or is it an ide to usb connection?? Am I making sense??

I just used a Friidump 0.3.0 on a Toshiba TS-L802A.
My ISO was exactly 4,699,979,776 bytes.
I attempted to burn with Roxio 7 and got an 0x000...04 error. but it will burn everything else fine.
Is this just typical for not using the LG recommended drives or is it roxio?

These are my friidump stats

Awesome I got this thing to work, I left it all night and it dumped an ISO of 8,311,680 Kb is that a correct size for Smash Brawl? Let me know cause this one time it said 100% complete, iso image downloaded succesfully! So I think my old Power Supply was creating the short cut and made the DVD Drive fail. Cecy let me know and thank you!

used the same friidump 0.3.0 file I originally created.

in the burn process:
i tried roxio and it would write at all.
i tried nero and it wrote 10% and failed.
i tried imburn ....worked like a champ.
Now I have to decide on which modchip. i'm thinking wasabi.

There were allot of drive listed here that are only 'players', they will not work. I am in the process of researching a way to backup Wii games. Last Mod I did was a LONG:) time ago to a PS1 and it worked perfectly back then.

Right click on the iso and select properties. The correct size is 8,511,160,320 bytes. I think you may have it!!

yes it is, 8,511,xxx so its complete all I have to do is get the media I downloaded the IMGBURN, where the heck are the options on how to burn, does someone have a youtube video, I know its too much asking, but I feel more secure following steps, besides DL DVDs are EXPENSIVE in my country.

YES the DVD Players here are just for backing up the Image of the Wii Games with your computer, so if you have a lot of games, you use the specific DVD Player to backup or DUMP the image to your computer and then copy it to a DVD.

Do this:

Open IMG BURN then select "write image file to disc" or at the top left of the screen click on "mode" a drop down menu will appear and click on "write".

At the new screen:

Source is where you are going to find your ISO file by clicking on the folder.

Destination is the DVD burner you are going to use to burn the image to the disk. Below the destination box make sure you select verify.

At the bottom right of the screen you will change the burn speed to 2.4x in the settings box.

Load your DL disk into your dvd burner wait a few seconds for IMG BURN to load the disc and click on the image that looks like " write > disc" button at the bottom left of the screen once it is activated. (If it does not activated make sure you have selected the correct burner at the destination or make sure the disk is empty and of course you can burn to DL with your particular burner otherwise it will not activate and you cannot proceed.)

It should look like this once you have everything loaded and ready to burn. All you have to do is click the disc at the bottom left of the screen and the burn process will start. You will get a message with a tone once the burn has completed successfully.

Great thanks let me get the DVD DL and I will get back to you with results.

One quick question how do you specify the Layer Break?

You should try it without the layer break. I truely believe it is not needed. I tried my backup on the following chips and it works fine: wasabi, d2pro, and wiikey.

To make a layer break in the iso: go to TOOLS, SETTINGS, WRITE. On options LAYER BREAK for DL media (top right) select USER SPECIFIED and enter 2084960. Click ok and then burn.

You were right got it working without the Layer BREAK!
Another Success Story

Wii - 3.2U
Wiikey - 1.9s
DVD - Memorex DVD+DL
Burning SW - ImgBurn
Burn Speed - 2.4x
No need of Layer Break!

Quick question, for COPYING purposes, like a friend wants a copy, should I use DISC COPY or do this process again? LMK.

If you still have the ISO and you did not delete it. Then just use IMG burn and burn it again.
Or you can use NERO and do the disc copy.

What is this pony about GDR-8162B's and reliability issues? Myself and three of my friends have run these drives for nearly a year and they've been absolutely spot on. If anything they dump more reliably than other models. I've never come across any negative comments around 8162B's - most people are desperate for one. Even now I'd pay £50 just to save hundreds of hours in dump times.

I am NO pony my friend.
The GDR 8162B are terrible drives compared to all other models.
For all reading this link search on the term "Flaky gdr 8162b" in google and have a read for yourself.
I have however had loads of these drives(GDR 8162B)2-3 of these drives last 8-9 months, but most are just rubbish and dont last that long.
Over the years i have spent building pc's for friends and family, and just interest in pc's all other models i.e 8161b 8163b 8164b are alot more reliable, you my friend mentioning me and my friends friends aunties mothers dad blah blah blah! i am talking about actual testing done by myself!
The laser in that model is crap (8162b)i think that model (8162b) has to be the worst, as its about the only model you can buy a replacement laser for pretty easily.
Ask brghtsprk i am sure hes replaced.one!
To all of you out there it doesnt mater what brand you have if for example you have an LG GDR 8161B,or an HP GDR 8161B or a Fujitsu siemens GDR 8161B etc you just have to search for the dos flasher and .dld files for the GDR 8161B and flash it in dos.
The dos program allows switches(commands) to allow you to crossflash a drive to what ever firmware version you have downloaded.
As for the GDR H10N 0B10 always works for me and all my previous drives were all HP (Hewlett Packard) branded, but originally made for them by LG.
I am trying to be as honest as i can and help fellow members here out.
I am also not using this site to increase sales on my drives on any auction sites either!

rob7bt,

I sure did replace one, its the same laser as the LG drive in an Xbox 360... so that will play a part in its availability....

However, i must agree with rob7bt, ive got 3 faulty 8162b's as we speak now... that where bought working, but died within 2 - 3 month's, not really with alot of use.....

But i've also fixed two... ( which paid for the 3 faulty dead one's! ) by simply swapping out the laser...

I know what i'd buy......

Wow! Firstly, I wasn't calling you a pony, I wouldn't personally insult anyone in a forum, it's rhyming slang - Google it. Just did your Goodle search as suggested - not exactly awash with horror stories about GDR-8162B's is it? One post in the RPC1 forums that doesn't even display - could even have been you? As for the "testing done by myself" comment, as I said, I have used the drive personally for 11 months and haven't had a bad dump nor any reliability issues yet. Also, 3 (real) friends run them with no issues - how is that less relevant than one of your friends having to replace a laser? No auties etc. as you suggest, although one of my friends has long hair and is quite effeminate if I'm honest. Anyway, sorry I spoke.
