Thinking of buying a new PSP slim but was wondering if it is yet possible to get kernel 1.5 programs/games to work on PSP slim? And if not do you have an idea if it will be possible in the near future?

Its not available for the slim yet. I doubt it will ever be released as new homebrew apps are being released universaly so you can use on fat and slim

for starters... it depends on whether you have potential of getting your mits on a already hacked psp and spare psp battery (to be safe).

creating .ISO files is easy, but again it'll have to be an already hacked psp. many programs can back-up already owned games, but personally i prefer to compress them afterwards to .CSO (most compressed .ISO format still compatible with the PSP).

You can crack your PSP by slamming hard to the floor or some hard surface.

Ok, get a hammer and just... no, you don't want to crack it, you want to downgrade it -.-

You'll need a Pandora Battery to do that.

yeah i got a custom firmware slim 3.71 M33-3, i cant use alot of homebrew, oh well, i have tons of games--but you have to have a fat PSP to make a Pandoras Battery, i already had a phat w/ custom firmware, so i used that for my slim....

You do not need a FAT PSP to make a Pandora Battery with Universal Unbricker files. A PSP SLIM with custom firmware can be used.

Hello to all psp fans!!

I just bought a new slim one (3.60) and i would like to play .cso and .iso files from my memory card. I have read a lot posts and i have some questions:
(1) During the pandora mod i create a majic stick. Is that the main memory stick that i m gonna put my .iso and .cso files (in my slim) or is it just for the pandora mod? (i m asking cause i have one (sandisk 4gb) and i would like to have more than one games in my stick)
(2) After the pandora installation procedure i read the usage instructions: - Insert Memory Stick into the PSP - Remove power cord and insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP - A menu appears when the PSP boots. Follow the onscreen information and instructions. All these have to be done with my slim?(and not with the fat customed one). In step two why do i need to remove the power chord? (should i have it plugged? cant i just insert the JigKick Battery into the PSP and do the rest?)
(3) Let's say I've modded the battery. Then all i have to do is to install 3.60 m33 and after the 3.71 m33 2 or do i have to install first firmwares 3.40 and 3.50? Can't i play my files with 3.60 m33?
(4) How can i find the slim's mobo type? When i open the umd lid i can't find the specific little area to read. Is there a mobo type that can't work with the above procedure?

Sorry for being tiring to you!
Thank You for reading

o_O you're really confused.... it's very simple, you can use the memory stick to turn it magic, then once you've done the whole pandora's battery procedure, just erase the files and you can use the memory stick for what it was before... although, personally i had a few troubles trying to turn a sandisk 4gig into a magic memory stick....

why is that asking so much of you? just simply charge the battery fully, take the AC out and run the program.... don't worry about "why" you have to remove the AC lead, just do it..

if you're installing it on a slim it doesn't work like that..
with SLIM PSP, you just have to use the most updated form of the pandora's battery software and it'll go straight to 3.71 M33-2

with FAT PSP, you'll have to upgrade from 1.5 to 3.52>3.52 M33-4>3.71 M33>3.71 M33-2>3.71 M33-3

caring about the motherboard is obsolete now ^_^, that only mattered about.... 3-4 months ago, before pandora's battery ^_^, now pandora's battery downgrades any PSP Firmware

First of all Thank You MonoSoft!!! You have answered really quick! But i still have some questions:

- Concerning the memorystick, can i use a 512 mb for the pandora procedure and then load my games from a 4 Gb or must i use only the 512 mb (magic) stick??

- Can u help me a little with that... which is the most updated form of pandora's battery software (are there any versions?)
- I have downloaded some easy installers but i don't know which of them is the suitable for 3.60 slim? I have: Pandora_s_Jigstick___Magic_Memory_Card_Installer.exe(14.7mb)
Pandora___Universal_Downgrader_Easy_Installer.rar(25.2mb)
and Pandora_s_Box_GUI.rar (33.7 mb)
- The easy installers require a pandora battery or do they make your battery pandora type?
- Is it better to use an easy installer or to make the whole procedure manually? Some say installers aren't good and the manual procedure is better. What do you suggest??
A LOT OF THANKS TO EVERYBODY WHO READ IT

=p you seem to complicate things in your mind, it's really a lot easier than that ^_^, you can use any memory stick for whatever purpose, using the 512 mb memory stick to create the magic memory stick would be the best idea, i've got a 512 stick i've left as magic just incase a brick occurs ^_^

I Believe the most recent version of it is the despertar del cementerio v3, which'll do anything you'd need (for now),
Click this to get that version

They will provide you with homebrew software which you use on the already downgraded fat psp, or i've heard the GUI's can do it direct from SLIM psp, but i've never tried that method as im old fashioned =p

easy installers do the job just like manual, if you're paranoid of things not being right, go for the manual option. personally i do it manually =p but this method is far longer,
for you i'd reccomend to stick to the link ^_^ with it's readme

you have to turn the fat psp battery into a pandora's battery, you can't do it with the slim battery, it runs on different wiring. the fat psp battery will fit into the slim psp =p

Thanks MonoSoft !!

I just went through the procedure (Pandora Mod + slim downgrading to 3.60 m33) and finally my psp slim is 3.60 m33! That was hard enough!
Anyway, can i ask you again something? (sorry for being annoying...)
- I turned my sandisk 4gb into majic stick. If i format it (through psp settings or via pc) will it continue to be majic or do i have to do the mod from the beginning?
- Which files do i need from the majic stick and which of them can i delete? (in order to earn some extra space for more games)
- Any useful link for making my 3.60 m33 to 3.71 m33 2?

Lot of Thanks to all the people who write down all the tutorials and also help all newbies like me (Monosoft you are great)

you can keep it magic, by keeping every single file in the procedure.... sorry =[, still if it's 4gb, i think you can spare that 40-80 Mbs =p

MonoSoft you're right, despertar del cementerio should be fine. I got dizzy yesterday with the whole procedure and didn't see the despertar del cementerio link.
For the moment i'm going to enjoy a little psp gaming and leave upgrading to 3.71 m33 2 for later! one last question please:
- I must use majic stick and Pandora battery for every future firmware update? (i think the answer is 'yes' but i need an expert's opinion)

Once again THANK YOU!

No, you shouldn't need it at all; all custom firmware updates are done through the PSP like official updates, though the install is slightly different.

im sure in the future that they'll find a way to update without using the pandora's battery method, but for now yeah you will need to keep modifying the pandora's battery to update.. every time =p

thanks for the expert compliment, i wouldn't call myself an expert ^_^
