I basically need some advice, i'm from the UK,have a cable connection and i'm looking to get a wireless router to go online with my PS3.
My PC and internet connection is upstairs and my PS3 is downstairs, I want to get a router with a strong signal and a decent reliable speed but in shop no one seems to know what there talking about.
I have looked at all the routers with 'Wireless G + MIMO' technology and 'Wireless N' and i'm not sure if I should be paying the extra money if another cheaper priced will do what I want. Just want a good smooth and fast running router.
Any help on this would be great, Thanks in advance!
I use a Linksys WRT54GL router (like this, though I'm in NZ so mine doesn't have the "UK" on the end), and, with a setup similar to yours, it works fantastically well. The router (and modem which you'll also need) sit upstairs, and it acts as an access point to PS3, Wii and Macbook (all wireless), and a Windows PC and Linux (Ubuntu) box. Easy to setup and to reconfigure; I changed to manual IP addresses a few months back, and it was a piece of cake. Also good security.
I know im probobly going to get blasted about using a d-link but i like them personally i use their DIR-625 (wireless N). Its completely foolsproof to setup, you dont even really need the installation cd just setup a lan connection. Yet it has so many advanced features including my favorite the QoS engine that prioritizes internet usage (great for online play).
