Final Update!

Thanks to penbralat, i realised there is 2 updates that come with the 1.9g. So i ran it again, it skipped the first update (obviously since its already installed) and then it ran the second update.

Put in SMG and it works so far!

So for anyone else with my issue heres how it went

I started with

PAL Wii version
Firmware 3.0 (from Metriod 3)
Wii key (version unknown, it was wat it came with)

Ran SMG update in wii, went to 99%, failed since it gets stuck there forever.

Updated via the internet to 3.1E Wii firmware version

Ran wii key version 1.9g update via Filechop (look in the tutorial section for wii for files and step by step guide http://www.gmodz.ca/)

Updated the wii key version (let both updates run!)

Can now run SMG!!

u should have just read page 12, i posted how to do it with the PAL Wii. You do NOT need filechop to burn the 1.9g update if you use IMGBurn. just insert a dvd, right click the correct iso region and select Burn using IMGBurn.

been playing the game since friday and have not had one error, great game!

here's a step by step guide again, to keep the newcomers pleased:

ok, here's an idiot proof guide for WiiZard's PAL Super Mario Galaxy which worked for me.

here are my specs before doing anything:
Wii: PAL 2.1E
WiiKey Version 1.2 (possibly 1.3 but definitely NOT 1.9b or 1.9g)
Verbatim DVD-R @ 4x burning speed

1. Get the WiiKey 1.9g BETA update
2. Burn the 1.9g BETA PAL Wiikey with IMGBurn
3. Install the 1.9g BETA on your Wii, it's idiot proof if burned correctly
4. Get the WiiZard PAL Version
5. Burn the game with IMGBURN
6. Place the game in your Wii and try playing, it will ask for an update
7. Click yes and wait, mine froze for 30 secs @ around 30% (heart started beating rapidly) but went to 100% very quickly once it continued.
8. Enjoy the game

My Wii Firmware version is now at 3.0E (not 3.1E) but the game works perfectly.

Notice that I did NOT update the firmware via internet before installing anything.

I also DID NOT need the 1.3 config disc from WiiKey.cn at all.

Good Luck

why would you try updating with a ripped copy when you have the original??

Hi,

I made the mistake of installing the update on SMG and then flashing to 1.9g and now the wii will recognize my backup but when I start it, it gives me the ERROR 1 Unauthorized device detected. Any advice? Can I uninstall the SMG update? HELP!!!! I can still play any other backups. I have an NTSC wii with whatever the latest update from the net is. PLEASE HELP!!!

Jack

Ok, so I live all the way out in Koujouak, Canada. SMG has not been recieved here yet and I couldn't wait to get a copy. So for the meantime I downloaded a SMG NTSC-JAP iso. I have a NTSC wii, with a Wiikey. I have everything working (I think) up to the point that I put the game disc in and it wants to updated. In order for me to get my wii to recognize the disc I had to put the region free option on my wiikey on. Does this mean that the update from the NTSC-JAP will brick my NTSC wii?

Hey, the Wiikey official site says that the 1.9g Beta Hotfix must be used at our own risk. What problems might occur??

Thanks

Well because my system in an NTSC-USA, and the Iso is NTSC-Jap, I think I will try the Brick blocker, and try that. If that doesnt work I am not going to chance the update and brick my wii. Ill just wait for SMG to hit stores here.

I did not try updating with a ripped copy if u read it properly,i created a backup to try and bypass the request of an update which obviously did not work the Backup DID NOT ask for an update but crashed after pressing START

hi, need some help here. i downloaded the wiikey 1.9g update, burned it, installed the first update and then accidentally ejected the disc while it was installing the second update. now my wii still works but none of my backups are being recognized. I had an error once when I put in an original, then the next time that worked. So anyway I think I basically interrupted the flash and now the chip has nothing on it. What can I do?

I have a problem with Mario Galaxy (PAL).
I have a wiikey and wii-version 3.1E.
I made a mistake during the installation of wiikey version 1.9g,
so I had to use the recovery-disc.
After that I installed 1.9g correctly.
The Wii recognizes the Disc, but when I start the game all I get is a black screen. Any suggestions??
Thank you very much!!
If you're trying to play a PAL version of SMG on an NTSC Wii then you're apparently out of luck. Check the compatibility website @ http://wiki.gbatemp.net/index.php?title=...y_List:_NTSC-US

SMG is down near the bottom (GameID 0332)

You'll have to try to find an NTSC release to play... sorry.

Download and burn the 1.9b recovery disc from http://www.wiikey.cn/resources.html

FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE README

Then once that is done proceed to do the 1.9g beta update again.

Good luck

This has been directly answered multiple times in the thread already. Re-read the thread pages.

I have a problem. Hopefully this hasn't previously been answered, so as not to waste anyones time. I've searched for it.

Anyway, I've updated my wii with the SMG update & and the 1.9g update. The game worked successfully for a while, besides the #001 error every once in a while. But today when I go do play it I get "unauthorized device detected" everytime I try it.

Anyone know what the problem is?

Thx in advance.
