Not getting the most out of my PS3

Hi ive had my PS3 since launch day and im getting P@@@@d of with it now i need help.. :>
Ok I have a Sharp Aqous 42" TV and a HDMI cable.
Im using the automatic setting to set up my audio and visual which works fine with the video settings but the thing is the sound just isnt right. When i put on a game or film the background noise is very loud but foreground stuff like voises or commentery are very fient. I cant hear what people are saying half the time. So i cant enjoy movies or games at the moment.
I say the video works fine but ive just bought pro evo and the replays are very juddery looking to me. Anyway heres some pics.
I select auto set up for audio
This is what it comes up with which looks a little strange to me as there is no option for dolby 5.1
So where do you think the problem lies? Cable? TV? PS3?
Can anyone help?

try changing the settings of your tv, i had the same problem and it worked for me

im having the same problem pal, when i listen to songs they just sound really crackly, any1 explain to me how to fix this problem?

HEY!! Get ur own thread!!!
Anyways im PAL and yes ive tried doing me TV. But my cable and dvd player sound great its just my PS3 thats got the sound problem.

Sorry "sanecrazy", i wont call you pal seen as its so offensive :S, i have had my own thread before but i fort it wud be better for afterdawn, to try and get my question answered on the same thread as urs seen as were having the same problem, freak!

Never sed they were i just put that in for extra info i had no problem with you saying PAL.
My PAL was a different PAL to the PAL u were refering to. PAL.

Try setting it manually,my 42inch 1080p tv is a cheap mirai and it gives me great audio and visual.
But to truly get most out of your PS3s sound you really should get a 7.1 av system.
Check this one out its only £249 and has an hdmi loopthrough,meaning you plug the Ps3 into it then plug it into your tv,its won awards to.

hi guys please help me i got a ps3 and when i plug it into the tv its not full screen ? i plugged it into the red white and yellow holes do i need to plug it into the scart socket

So i played with my tv settings and no joy there so ive got a couple of ideas to try and improve the problem. See what you think. Anyway i tried to hook it up so that i had the vidio going through the hdmi cable and the audio going through the component cables but it wouldnt do that. It only wants to put the audio through the hdmi cable when thats pluged in. How do i seperate the 2? Basicly i wanna try and view through my hdmi and get audio through my component cables. Also can i get the video to go through hdmi and try an optical audio cable aswell, e.g use hdmi and optical at the same time? Here are a few diagrams of what i want do do see what you think.
Firts example. This is my set up and it sounds rubbish.
And heres a few ideas im thinking of to try and get better sound.
Any suggestions?

It wont work using your component cables if you have HDMI plugged in,either use audio cables from your tv to your amp or us an optical cable from your PS3 to your amp.

Umm... ya it will.. I'm using the hdmi to DVI for my video and im using the AV cables that came with my ps3 for sound.. works perfect.
my suggestion for you is to use optical cable from your ps3 to your amp... even the av cables from your ps3 to your amp should work although might not sound as great.. good luck
