Ok, I am a total noob when it comes to this particular subject. I want this done right and don't know anything about it. On the software side I have obtained the BenQ iXtreme 1.1 firmware. Extracted it and i got 2 folders. 1 called Fast, and 1 called Quiet. I have no clue wat the difference is. Wat is the difference, and wats right for me? I also got dosflash 1.3beta as i'm pretty sure it is the newest version. and firmtool.exe which was included with the BenQ iXtreme package. I'm also running Windows Vista 32Bit if that makes a difference. On the hardware side I have Xeno Top Gear which i got from an auction site. I know how to hook up the Xeno Top Gear and am pretty sure I just plug it into my sata port on my motherboard. For a Motherboard I have an ECS 570-SLI Intel Edition which uses the nforce4 chipset I'm pretty sure. But from my understanding the Xeno Top Gear makes it so it doesn't matter what type of motherboard setup I have. Plug and Play basically. On my XBOX360 I have a BenQ drive model# VAD6038. I would prefer to use DVD Decryptor To burn the games if possible as i'm familiar with that program. So some of my other questions are: Do I need to extract a key from my BenQ drive? If so, how? How do i rip games from the 360 DVD drive to DVD? Can i rip games directly from my PC DVD drive to iso and then back to DVD like i did with the PS2? Do I need to patch the games for online play? Any help on my particular setup would be greatly appreciated by myself and I'm sure others who haven't done this on the newer BenQ drives. I'm not stupid and can pick up on stuff pretty quick, but I haven't been able to find one good tutorial about this particular drive as the firmware just came out and I'm not sure if the other tutorials apply. Basically i just want to be sure. Thanks Alot for any help!! =)

C4E released the Benq iXtreme firmware late Saturday night. You can get it on Xbins. Or pretty much anywhere else by now.

Fast is fast read mode. Quiet is slow read mode.

The Xeno won't fix anything if you don't have the right motherboard. It does matter.

You can use DVDDecrypter to burn. Just remember to set the layer break.

You do need the Benq's key. The principles are the same for EVERY drive... read drive's original firmware, get drive's key, inject key into hacked firmware, write over drive's original firmware with hacked firmware.

You can't use the Benq to rip originals.

You can use your pc drive to rip by using WX Ripper. But you'll still need to get the security info before burning. WX Ripper can't get it. You'll have to download it and use XDVDMulleter to inject it into the iso.

Injecting ALL the security info (ss, dmi, pfi, video) is patching the game for safe online playing.

You'll find more info about flashing the Benq on Xbox-Scene or on Xboxhacker.

Oh, by the way, your best bet for ripping games is to purchase the Samsung sh-d162c (or 163a) pc drive. Flash it with Kreon firmware. Then you can use this drive along with Xbox Backup Creator or Schtrom to create a fully stealth (patched) iso.

Dosflash: The only way to read and flash a Benq drive is with DosFlash(info) 1.3. There is a support thread here to help with users experiencing problems. It is recommended to try the dos16 version first. It ONLY supports VIA and NFORCE sata chipsets. When using a VIA card, please be sure to disable both your IDE and/or SATA chipsets as they usually interfere with dosflash.

OK guys.

In terms of getting your orig.bin flash file, follow below:

Process: Boot into windows. Once complete, plug in the SATA cable from your computer to the BenQ. Plug the 360 power cable to a wall outlet and turn the 360 on. Start DosFlash32 and a message will pop up. Press ok and quickly turn off your 360, wait 1 second and turn it back on. The BenQ should now properly be detected. You can now read from your BenQ drive. Select read from the dropdown box, click flash and select a place to save the file. Name it orig.bin

**Hint** - To assure success, unplug the power to any and all SATA devices and disable RAID

Once you have orig.bin, copy it to the fast and/or quiet folders and run the .bat file. It will generate a new file for you to flash to your BenQ drive. Also, a DOS message window will pop up and have green letters saying "SUCCESS" if everything went well.

In terms of flashing the new file, follow below:

Process: Boot into windows. Once complete, plug in the SATA cable from your computer to the BenQ. Plug the 360 power cable to a wall outlet and turn the 360 on. Start DosFlash32 and a message will pop up. Press ok and quickly turn off your 360, wait 1 second and turn it back on. The BenQ should now properly be detected. You can now write to your BenQ drive. Select write from the dropdown box, select the new file that was generated either from the quiet folder or fast folder. Fast is recommended as quiet may cause freezing with some games. It should flash in less than 10 seconds. Test out the firmware with a stealth patched 360 backup.

If you aren't able to download scene game releases because of speed/bandwidth limitations, you'll have to make your own stealth backups. I don't recommend this for beginners as you'll have to spend a bit of time actually reading to make sure you understand how to do it. If at all possible, download your games. They all come stealth patched and ready to burn. * i don't condone software piracy, you should own the actual game before you download a backup *

Another piece of advice, get familiar with cloneCD. It's not hard at all to use and 360 backups were initially designed to be used with it. You'll see that cloneCD is easier to use with 360 backups than DVD decrypter is.

Hope that helps.

FLASHING BENQ w/ VIA PCI CARD

1.install the via card into a pci slot in your pc and disconnect all sata cable and ide cable to all your extra hdd and dvd burner, dvd rom, only keep one cable going into which ever is your main hdd with winxp on it.
2. connect the sata cable to your benq drive in the xbox360 to your sata port on your via card.
3. turn on your pc and press f2 at startup to go into your bios and turn off all sata port in your computer except for the sata port that is connected to your main hdd with winxp in it
4. turn off your pc and turn it on again, once winxp is finish booting up turn on your xbox 360.
5. start dosflash32 and it will ask you a question, choose yes and turn off your xbox360, now count to 5 and turn your xbox360 on again and the dosflash32 gui will pop up.
6. choose read for flash task and click read flash and it will ask you where to save your firmware. save it either to your ixtreme fast or quiet folder and name the file orig.bin. dosflash32 should finish ripping u the orignal firmware. it should be 256kb. after it finish getting the orignal firmware turn off your xbox360
7. now go into either your fast or quiet folder and click the make ixtreme firmware.cmd and now you should have a new file in the folder called benq-ix.bin
8. turn on your xbox360, open up dosflash32 and it will ask you a question, choose yes, turn off your 360, count to 5 and turn it on and the dosflash32 gui should pop up now. choose write in the flash task. click read flash and go to where your benq-ix.bin and choose it. it will started flashing the hacked ixtreme.

sometimes with via when you write the ixtreme firmware to the drive you might encounter probs like freezing.to get round it just choose erase and erase the fw from the benq then write the ixtreme to the benq.

be sure to have the orig.bin safe.best is to check the orig.bin and even the ixtreme fw with fwtoolbox v4.5 for the key.

I have only flashed 1 BENQ so far... so I haven't been

able to troubleshoot any problems yet...

Make sure all your drives are disconnected and try again...

If that doesn't work try moving your SATA PCI Card to another slot

and try it without installing any drivers for the PCI VIA card....

When windows asks you to update drivers for the card just hit CANCEL.

And go thru the steps again... If that doesn't work then you may

have to try and do it manually... About all I can come up w/....

OK here is something might help you guys.... Go to XBINS...... XBOX 360.... Firmware.... Firmware Tools

and d/l eXOBeX Benq Batch files...

you have to put DosFlash16 into the folder and the iXtreme Fast and

Quiet Folders too.... Check out the text file README....

You have to figure out what Port you are using and edit a few files

to correspond w/ your SATA port.... You can use MSINFO32 or

use Iprep to find out your Port.... & go into MS-DOS.. edit filenames.

I am using an VT6421A card and my port is E480...

I had to edit BENREADF.BAT, BENREADQ.BAT, & BENREMOQ.BAT changed to

correct iXtreme file benq-ixB and also you have to update the ports

on BENHACK.BAT AND BENORIG.BAT... port is listed twice in each

of these files... so make sure you change em both.... then all you

have to do is make an MS-DOS Disk or in my case I made an Iprep disk

on a USB Stick and put the whole benbatch folder on the USB drive

unplugged ALL your drives and boot up w/ the USB drive....

then it is like flashing a SAMSUNG.... e.g BENREAD 1234567 61005 &

BENHACK 1234567 61005

Glentot you should be able to use your ICH5 onboard SATA Port....

I also have an intel ICH6 and the port is AC00.. figure out your

port and you should be good to go...

JLF24, do you know if your Intel ICH6 works? That's what I have and I'd rather use onboard instead of buying a new pci card and then installing it and everything.

pizzag - what are you unclear about? you don't have to worry about your drive key. The batch file takes care of all that for you. Just make sure to back up your original firmware and save it in a few places before you write the hacked firmware to your drive.

You can get the whole pack for benq drive. The iXtreme firmware and Dosflash16 and dosflash32 here- http://tinyurl.com/3c66vf

That archive even has its own readme file. Guys, this isn't rocket science. If you have via chipsets, erase your flash before you write to it. If you have an nforce chipset, you can just write directly.

As always, BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL FIRMWARE BEFORE YOU TRY TO WRITE ANYTHING TO THE DRIVE!!!

ok, i have nforce4 and dosflash32 with no problems. got my original and yadayada. went to the ixtreme folder and ran the make ixtreme cmd file and it said "The System cannot find the specified program. then under that it says "BenQ iXtreme v1.1 firmware created: benq-ix.bin" under that it says "press any key to continue". it wrote my new firmware so i flashed it, hooke it up to the tv and threw an original in. it says please put in a xbox 360 or some junk. i reflashed it with my original and it was all good again. i'm not sure wat the problem is. not the flashing, but somwhere between making the hacked firmware. any ideas?

yeah u can flash it with an Intel onboard SATA Chipset...

just find out your port in msinfo32...mine is like 0x0000E480.. you want the starting address so it would be E480... my ICH6 onboard is AC00....

If u are having problems w/ Dosflash 32 then I suggest flashing it manually w/ Dosflash16... really simple once you figure out your port... follow the readme file and the only thing you have to change is the port... everything else is the same...
