Will there ever be a PS3 custom firmware ???

I doubt it, at least anytime soon. There's not really a point right now, if you get an ISO for a PS3 game it's over 15gb, no thumb drive is going to be able to transfer that. Only other advantage of having custom firmware is themes, but the 2.00 update Sony release let's you do that anyway. So definitely not anytime soon.

The data on Blu-Ray discs are too heavy really so I don't think it will come about...
They might make one for homebrews but not to play games...
I really hope they don't make any...
The PS3 is great as it is...

I'd love to have a custom firmware for the homebrew, with the power of the ps3 the possibilities are endless. The only reason I hate the idea of a custom firmware is because its gonna lead to copied games and I don't wanna see the ps3 getting run into the ground because its fairly vulnerable atm especially since they're only real profit comes from game sales, and that added to all the devs jumping ship game copying would make them all bail. So as far as the ps3 is concerned f*** piracy.

I think to a certain extent that CFW would be good. I liked with my PSP that I could play my old sega genesis games on it without having to hook up my old dusty sega. So emulation would be good for it. And it wasnt stealing because I have the original rectangle boxes those games came in. And to be able to FREELY customize the XMB without sony. As for piracy I dont really care for it. And bluray discs have a cost to them. Not much but still. I like Sony and I know they are losing money on every PS3 they make (like $240) on it. So I wouldnt mind buying games to help them. But still the good of CFW makes your PS3 your own not what a company decides what you can do on it.
