NTSC DVD on Pal PS3

Hi,
First post here.
Didn't know whether DVD ripping sections was appropriate or not so I plumped for the PS3 section.

I have 2 DVD's from the US which are obviously NTSC and region 1 and so will not play on my UK PAL PS3. One of the DVD's is a 20th Anniversary edition of Tron which is only available in the US. So I want to play it back on my PS3. So I used dvddycryptor to rip the disk onto a portable drive and renamed the VOB files to mpeg which I read you can do and try to play it back on the PS3. When ever I play it back now it has a green flicker about every 2 seconds and makes it un-watchable.


Do I have to re-encode it to watch it or am I missing something?

Any help/advice much appreciated.

if you rip the disk to your hard drive then use DVDx ULtra to convert the .VOB files into AVI or MPG.

once there in either format you could either stream the files to you PS3 from your PC using TVersity or you could convert the AVI/MPG back to a dvd but in PAL format.
im not sure if PS3 supports AVI/MPG because i always stream everything, but you could try that aswell.

If you use Dvd Shrink you can convert from Ntsc to Pal and burn it on to a blank disc,that way youd still have the full movie and all the extras and your PS3 will be able to read it.

Do you know how to convert a DVD into a single AVI file. I'm getting a decent sized external HDD and I'm wanting to store all of my media on that and use tversity to stream to my ps3. It would be nice if I could backup my dvd collection and stream it so that I don't ruin the disc.
