You need a monitor with DVI input and is HDCP.

Would a Monitor that has a DVI-D input be likely to be HDCP compliant?

It is not just HDCP. Tested today with a HDCP LG 19" LCD...gave me an error that it could not display the image.
Is there a list of tested monitors with results?

Hey Narutodbz, the issues your having with 1080p is because the native resolution on the Dell E228wfp is 1680x1050. This means that 1080p is "out of range". You will have to run games in 720p.
The reason the pixels look squashed is because the monitor is running at 16:10 when 720p is 16:9, so it means it is stretching the displayed image slightly.

Well Narutodbz, I don't know much about your monitor, but supposedly some of the Dells have different display (or scaling) modes such as 4:3 and so on.
-Try changing the settings in that section, and if you're lucky, you should find a setting that displays the image from the PS3 with no stretching and instead places a black bar at the top and bottom of the display.

My new Acer 22" screens support a native resolution over 1080i, but they still will not accept 1080P or 1080I input, only 720P & 480P.
Even with this limitation, Games look better on the Acer PC monitor at 720P than they did on the LG 28" 1080P TV.
On top of the super-crisp, super-vibrant picture, there is more picture displayed, it does not cut off part of the picture like most HDTVs.
Now I have my DVR on a PC monitor too, no more blurry, cut-off HDTVs for me!
