Im going to install YDL on my ps3, it was going to be fedora core 5 but I hear YDL is better. I read somwhere that it uses the ps3 wifi, which would be perfect for me. But now I hear that after the ps3 2.0 update the wifi dont work. Is there a patch or something to get it working? or is it working now after the 2.01 update? Thanks

You should put Ubuntu Linux on the PS3, because it is one of the best Linux OS's out there, and it does support the WiFi on the PS3.

Ah ok thanks, ill follow that guide exactly. Ive bever installed linux on ps3 before so Ill be extra careful. Im just waiting for my USB keyboard to arrive now, I ordered it last week so it might come tomorrow. At the minute im downloading the file, 20% done, and ive got the md5 checker ready to check its all ok.
One question though, while im installing will I need to use an ethernet lead instead of using a wireless router like I normally do? In the guide it says have an internet connection, but is this wired or wireless? If its wired, after installing I should be able to go back to wireless with my router if the wifi on ubuntu works wont I?
Thanks for your help.

yeah you're gonna have to use wired to begin with and once you update the kernel you can switch to wireless.

Also note that you can only use WEP encrypted wireless with Ubuntu on the PS3- so you may have to change the settings on your router if you are currently using WPA

What about getting the wifi to work undr YDL? I'm not sure how to do that and I can't find a tutorial. I also read somewhere that you can use the sixaxis wirelessly now with a little tinkering. Is this true? A link in the right direction would be much appreciated.

Yeah you can, find the instructions here:

(scroll down to no.5, but you will need the new linux kernel installed to use this)
