hey.
i've got a lot of downloaded movies/tv shows etc saved to my external harddrive. what's the best way to get them onto my ps3 and watch them on my big screen?
i've tried using sony media manager for my psp to convert them but this only works with some of my files.
also tried psp video 9 but the picture isn't great when viewed on a large screen. is the ps3 video 9 software better in that respect?
is it possible to hook my external drive up via the usb and transfer files that way?
any help would be greatly appricated.

If you have a PC on the same network as your ps3 then turn your pc into a media server using a program called tversity. This program transcodes your media files on the fly meaning that you din't have to convert them at all. The program will do it for you as you watch your movie.

i find that very weird... i love my ps3 9... the mpeg 2 1080p option (it doesnt actually make your video 1080p) works so good for me and if anything.. it enhances the quality of the picture. what kind of videos are you playing? it could be that when you full screen crappy quality videos onto your tv it looks a lot worse. i don't know.. i had some friends with not so great routers that couldnt handle streaming with tvversity.. so it lags and all.. and its also harder to install/setup if you're not familiar with ports and all..if you like the way your tversity plays and it wil work for you... enjoy!

What do you mean by having your pc on the same network as your ps3? Do you mean that the ps3 is hooking up to your router which is plugged into your computer?

i don't have a home network set up yet so tversity is out of the equasion for the moment. is there any way to hook up my external drive and avoid all this converting malarky?

yes... just convert the format of your hardrive to FAT32 then add folders such as music, videos, pictures.

then convert your videos and put them in your VIDEOS folder
