My PS3 detects the ip address but not anything else. My school requires you to do a scan for a virus scan program before you can access the internet, could this be what is keeping me from playing? Everytime I go to internet on PS3 it ask to do scan but I scan on a game system. I know there is a way around this, because people here play xbox 360 online all the time.

you should call the IT department on your campus. I remeber when i conencted my 360 to the college's network, i had to get a mac addess. perhaps you need something similar for the ps3....? give em a call and they should tell you.

I dunno i don't think we are supposed to be allowed to play games online for some odd reason, so i don't wanna call and ask. I saw internet policy and it said gaming is prohibited...but everyone still plays xbox online.
