Since you can play Blue-Ray movies in a PS3, how can you copy a movie into the 40gb hard drive?

get the movie onto a storage media device and copy it into video. You need to convert it first e.g. using ps3video9

You need to install linux in order to rip the Blu-Ray movie to your harddrive.

Here is what i found doing a Google Search.

You cant copy to the PS3,s HDD because its formatted as FAT32 and therefore can only hold single files of just over 4gigs.

You are correct about the PS3s harddrive being limited to hold files no larger than 4gb,however you are wrong about not being able to copy to the harddrive,people have been copying Blu-Ray movies to it for months and a simple Google Search will tell you that.

Explain how then, a normal DVD comes in at about 6gigs main movie of which is 4 an a half gigs.
A BD disc movie is 15gigs, so back-up your answer with some facts.

As i understand how hard it must be for you to do a GOOGLE search on this subject Sudds i will certainatly put several links on ripping Blu-Ray movies to your PS3 Harddrive.

Being able to rip Blu-Rays to the PS3 has been a well known fact for about a year now.

This is the tool used to back up Blu-Ray Discs.
