Can someone tell me if it is alright to leave the PS3 on standby with the red light on through out the day if I plan on playing it or shut it completely off everytime I get done playing a game? Thanks.

I've been just leaving it on standby and haven't had any problems with it! If I was going on a trip or something, then I would turn it off completely!

you should have no problem, i left my ps3 on with the folding@home program for 2 weeks while i went on holiday, works fine.

The only reason I can think you'd need to switch it off is if you are unplugging it, or don't want someone to accidentally turn it on.

iv had mine since launch and never turned it off i always put it on standby

Mine is also consistently on standby. No problems. You should have no problem leaving it on standby at all.

You can also hold down the power button until you hear a beep. It probably isn't good for it to turn it off with the switch straight away consistently.

Oh ok i already knew that. Yeah i always hold the ps button and then select switch off. When you lot were discussing 'stand by' i thought you were referring to something else.
