From what I read in some other threads and forums I know that Ps3 games cannot be backed up to a disc but they can be played on the PS3 Hard Drive using the Swiss Army Knife Program.(please correct me if I am wrong)
I am contemplating if I should buy a PS3 or not, but I don't know how the process works when it comes to games being played on the PS3 Hard Drive. Can someone simplify how the process works on how games are put on the Ps3 hard drive. Is the Games ISO saved to the Ps3 hard drive or your computer? Do you need a blue-ray disc burner in order to save them to your comp then transfer to the PS3?
If someone could tell me the order on how games are transfered to your PS3 Hard Drive that would be cool. Please keep it simple. Are the Games downloaded or are they backed up through the blue ray disc games?

you cant play backups off the hard drive, swiss army knife only rips the disk to the hard drive, theres no way yet to play rips.

What is the whole point of ripping to your PS3 if you can't play them?
And I still don't know the Process on how it is ripped to the PS3 Hard Drive. Thanks

You can but you need a software called "PS3 ISO LOADER" OR "PS3 HDLOADER"
Getting a hold of them is a totally differnt issue!

None of the above loaders are available to us the public yet,the hackers have yet to perfect them so it could possibly be another year away.So NinReznor is correct in saying that they cant be played yet.
Slash215 the games are backed up either to the internal harddrive or an external harddrive,Swiss Army Knife acts like another OS(operating System)and the reason to back them up now is so you have them ready whenever an iso loader comes out. Also it should be possible to take the iso from the external harddrive and burn it on an Blu-Ray burner.

probably because a dvd-r isnt a burned blue-ray disc.

lol@wabashman... Took the words right out of my mouth! :-D
If anyone has played a burnt blu-ray movie on the PS3, it would be interesting to hear from you. As marcusita said, he thinks it is a possibility but I also don't know 100%.

I have one of the initial launch 60 gig units. On the box it says that BD-R is supported so I think that once people figure out a simple solution to backing up and burning a Blu-Ray movie that the ps3 will in fact play it.

Oh yes, I saw that on my box too. I just thought it would be interesting to hear from someone that had done it. Just to hear the results... Like if playback was smooth etc. :-D

All thats needed is a burner and discs(very expensive).
