U can hardmod the battery, I tried it myself and I did it.Take out the 5 th pin.Note that u cant use the FAT battery after u downgraded ur psp if u hardmod it, only if u unmod it(place the 5 th pin again in the fat battery. I think the DATEL Tool battery is expensive.

I will explain u detailed. u must create the Magic MS with the guide of the 1st link drakex gave to u.
Then , u can hardmod the battery this should help you.click here
After that, put the magic MS in the psp, then the hardmodded or the DATEL Tool battery in the psp. It should then automatically start, appearing a menu letting u to install 3.71 m33-2.

u just said that tou have a fat psp battery.you can change that normal battery to a Pandora Battery, so that u can install the cfw on ur psp, by hardmodding the battery. U can also buy a DATEL TOOL Battery, if you don't wanna hardmod ur fat battery

U can use a normal memory stick to turn it to a Magic Memory Stick, and then, after you install the custom firmware to ur psp, format your MS and rstore default settings. U can then use it normally, and copy iso to it.

It is no need of buying a DATEL TOOL BATTERY, cuz u have a custom firmware psp.I will guide u step by step of how to turn ur normal battery to a pandora, then the pandora battery to a normal battery, so that u can use it again.
Download Pandora's battery from here
Place the 2 folders:pandora_battery, and pandora_battery% in the GAME folder in your custom firmware psp.then , run pandoras battery creator from your custom firmware psp.A menu should then appear.Press X to Convert the battery in Service mode. Then, insert the Magic MS(if u created it) in your psp, that you want to install a custom firmware, then, insert the battery that u just modified.A menu should appear.Press X to install 3.71 m33-2.After all its done, press X to exit.then, format ur MS , and restore default settings. You're now on 3.71 m33-2 that lets you play your isos.
Now, very important, u must convert the Pandora battery, with u installed the cfw on your psp, so that you can boot ur psp in normal mode with that battery. Follow this guide
Now, your uncles battery will be a normal one again, and u will have on your psp 3.71 m33-2.

no, u dont need a custom firmware psp, u can use an autoinstaller that will put the right files on ur MS for u.Just follow what drakex gave to u in the first link to create a magic MS, and follow what I said previously to create a pandora battery with ur uncle's custom firmware psp.

You have 2 options. Move the pandora_battery, and pandora_battery% to the GAME150 folder
If there is no GAME150 folder then...
You need to go into recovery mode on the FAT PSP.
Turn off the PSP hold R-Trigger down and then turn on the PSP. This will bring you to the recovery menu. Go to configuration and chsnge the GAME kernel to 1.50 kernel then exit the recovery menu and run the Battery Creator.
