Yup you heard it! yesterday i switched on my ps3 to play prostreet and well no playstation logo came up and it didn't even say there was a game in the drive! tryed aother game dvd and a blu-ray, just didn't want to read discs. Everything else works. It mite be a simular problem with the misalinged drive causes on the ps2??? Who knows.. ive got my gauntree from GAME in the uk so i take it back tomorrow and i will post to you to see if everyfink goes all okay :D Please post if any of you have had this problem. Its a uk 40gb version if that helps.
What hapand next for you, did you take it back to the place you bought it from? was your games working in perfict order i.e like no sratches on discs? its strange though because soon as i updated to 2.10 it was working finem turned it of for couple of hours and then it just stop reading discs.. and when i put the disc in you see the blue flashing light flicker on the ps3 for about a couple of seconds and then nothing? I think its out of order such a expenisve machine can just go on you like that! :(
Was yours a 40gb to? Well i got a new one.. prity funny how i got it replaced, went into game and there was a huuuuge line lol and i was like F**ck Sake lol anyways my mate saw me and said hey wats the problem and i told him.. and he said give it here and he just changed it LOL i didnt even show him no documents haha :P but now i have it im very shadey about updating the firmware. At the moment its on 1.92 should i stay or should i wait for for 2.11 ??? its soo shiney LOL
Had the same problem. Went to play motorstorm (brand new out of the box) and nothing, didn't recognise any discs after that. It is the 60gig version so the guy at sony said they would have to courier one out to me as they are discontinued in the shops but it could be until the new year(that was Dec 22nd and still waiting)
Woah dude that is a pain in the jacksee :( thats why i didn't want to wait and went to the place i went to.. but then again it was the holidays i think you shud give it about one more week and if not go to the place you got it from. So its not just the 40 gb version is dodgy, 60 gb has been reported.. by the way fokes i downloaded up new up date to my new machine,, so far so good will update on any further information.
I started having this problem on my 60gb after the update for assasins creed came out. I think there was a console update around that time too. First it happened only with assassins creed, and the fix was to delete the data utility file, not the save game data file of the game. after doing that almost everytime I wanted to play AC, it started hapening on other games, so I started deleting the utilty files for the game I had the problem with. It worked for a while but eventually it wouldnt read any blueray disks. movies and games.(for some reason there was one BD movie that would play, but nothing else) I place a PS2 game or a normal DVD and it started just fine. I took it back to gamestop, and I got a 40gb model. I reveived a $200 credit back for the difference. That made me happy that it crashed like that cuz I was able to get a couple more games and another protection plan for my new 40gb model. Its been said that the 40gb model has less problems than the other 2.
yeah you did a smart thing there getting extra protection for the ps3 same as me.. well unfournally i was the unlucky ones then because my 40gb model was worse then your ps3... it wouldn't read no media atall!! I hope that the next update is like really really safe aswell this time because some times in the back of my mind i oftern wonder..
