everything won't be handed to you. it's not hard looking through pages. if you're not going to put the time in learning on how this works and where your problem lies, then you don't even deserve custom firmware on your psp.

No prob, was just a tip.
In my experience of writing manuals of instructions, it is often the noobs that need the more detailed to make a more clear picture. Leaving out what you assume "everybody"
should know is more frustrating. Not to mention, wording and or descriptions is very important for a noob not on the same page as novice users.
Also, here in my local area of CA, USA, we do not have any new for sale older pre Jan '08 SLIMs, so everybody locally is asking for aid of CFW FAT to run these tools. Our local Fry's is half full of open box returns cause peepz are looking to find the old stock SLIM that you say is so available only to find they are all new. So unless you believe SONY is gonna' unlock that in a 3rd generation, then it is safe to say that from now on we will all need the use of a FAT to run the battery tool.
Larry, I only ever meant it as a cunstructive tip, not complaining or nagging.

and that's why i'm glad i got the slim a few days before the september release. after some searching online, people have spotted them on sale at fry's, so i jumped right on it. lo and behold, the concord/pleasant hill fry's had a whole bunch of brand new 3.60 slims behind the cage.

My point exactly, September of '07. This is June '08. How many 3.60 SLIMs do you really think are on retail store shelves? Or what web stores do you know who will "cherry pick" for you? None that I know of. Lol!

if you go to the stores you least expect it, they may have launch stuff still. i rememeber when the psp was released, most stores were sold out. but i went to the local k-mart, and they had four or five psp's behind the display counter. checked a few days later, still had some.
i highly doubt online retailers will find an original ta-085 3.60 slim. they'll have the new ta-085v2 boards.
that's the thing with electronics and games; get the original launch, and there's bound to be flaws that can be found and exploited. later on, the company will fix them when more people find out so it can stay company proprietary.

Where can I peak to see and confirm what board model I have on newer SLIM. It had OF 3.90 on it. I've already CF'd it so I assume the "about" page wont be acurate. I'm still on warrenty so I dont wanna' open anything if I dont have to. Or does it matter now, I mean can SONY tell we hacked it if we return it to OF before an RMA?

i don't think there's any markings to determine the board. i think when 3.80 slims came out, they started with the ta-085v2 boards; might even be with late 3.71 slims.
but the sure way is trying to flash a battery on it. v2 boards are patched to prevent flashing a battery.
edit: LINK to wikipedia. look at the homebrew section. they have a way to determine by the original box.

hi larry or anyone there... I already did the things said in the instruction with the use of my friends psp, of course...I followed the instructions said in the guide but, when the guide said:(note: the inst. without side comments worked...)
"Type Y then ENTER when it ask if your sure you want to format. (I waited for the blinking of the mem icon to finsh-duh!!!)
Take out the Memory Stick and then disable the USB.
Then insert the Memory Stick and enable the USB again (I did this but it says the mem stick cannot be read so, I took out the mem stik then disabled the usb then turn off the psp then turned on the psp then put bak the mem stik and enabled the usb again)
Then Press any key to continue
Select Option 4 "Universal unbricker for FAT or SLIM (This installs custom firmware 3.71 M33-2)
Type 4 and Press ENTER
The files will now be installed to the Memory Stick.
After it has finished writing the files you will get an image similar to below. Just type Y and ENTER to finish the instillation of files to the Magic memory Stick. (this is the part when I got problem because the TYPE Y OPTION didn't appear it merely said WELCOME TO EASY INSTALLER, PRESS ANY KEY TO CONTINUE(EXIT)
well I followed the instructions(the one with the transfer files thingy from the addon to the mem stik...then I am wondering whether I would continue with the guide said below considering that the TYPE Y OPTION DIDN'T APPEAR ON MY FRIEND'S PSP what should I do?? SORRY IM STILL A NOOB ON THIS...
PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE PSP
Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run OS Pandora Battery Tool. Press X at warning screen to get to Main Menu.

Run that if you want to keep the Pandora Battery as is. It will boot as a normal Battery.
It needs to be run on all memory Sticks.
If you want to boot the Magic memory Stick Menu then make sure the Magic memory Stick is in PSP and hold L trigger down during boot up to go into service mode.

I read all the past posts...i was reading this thread 1 hour, but i didn´t find the correct answer to that questiton, realy...
I find just that, that you need first put in the memory stick and then plugin the AC adapter and it will boot in to the menu and then insert the battery...but i think that is not the same problem or not correct answer, coz i tryed and it didn´t worked...
But i have to say that, that is really great, great guide...the best
ps:if that was the correct answer why is not working....help please...
