Hmm
Memory stick directory on the PSP still signifies "corrupted data".
Tried ISO file and Game file. Although showing on the PC via USB, the PSP shows either nothing (ISO file) or corrupted (GAME file).
Any further wisdom?

I followed your guide and everything went well up to the very end. I got to the point where it said " Install success. Press X to shutdown the psp." I pressed X and the psp shut down so I took out the battery and plugged in the power cable. When I turned the power switch on, the green power light came on but the screen just flashed grey for a split second and then the power light went off. I tried the program at least 5 times but kept getting the same problem.

Out of desperation I tried to install the official firmware but got the same results. I had made a nand dump so I tried that too but it still won't boot. So I installed the custom firmware again, twice, and it said the install was a success both times but I still can't get to the XMB.

I started out with 3.03 OE-B and now I think I've got a brick. You have any ideas what happened? It keeps telling me the install was a success but the thing just won't turn on.

it's possible the memory stick is a fake. highlight the memory stick icon, and press triangle. then press x to bring up the info. if it says magicgate unknown or is blank, it's fake.

otherwise, the iso name is too long. you will have to shorten it.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

It says Magicgate - "Supported", as apposed to Magicgate unknown.
Is this still a fake? What signifies a fake; "Magicgate" or whether its "supported" or "unknown"?
Thanks

How about starting a new thread on this subject. It has nothing to do with this guide and is just adding to the numerous pages already.

Do you have another PSP that you could try recreating the Magic Memory Stick? Make sure you use a PSP that dosent have a custom PSP theme installed. That has been known to cause issues.

The only thing that wasn't 'stock' was a jpeg picture for wallpaper. I wasn't aware that could cause problems. If that's true perhaps you should add that to the warnings to alert other folks. My son in law has a psp with cfw 3.03 OE-C I put on. I'll contact him and see if I can borrow it. I was just hoping there was a 'Magic' button combo that would allow it to boot. Thanks for the info.

hey all.
im modding a psp slim tomorrow and had a couple questions.
he just bought it 3 days ago, and it is the ratchet and clank bundle.
I have a modded fat one, using this guide worked perfectly. I have my fat pandora battery with magic stick.

Questions:
1) Can I use the same magic stick on the slim?
2) Can I use my fat pandora battery in the slim?
3) If it is unable to flash due to new mothboard, will it be bricked?

thanks.

All firmwares work, it only depends on the motherboard. The new pandora proof is the TA-088 v3 which comes with 4.05 firwmare

I have a question.

I have download the files and in ADD_ON folder I have three files psp,150,395. what do I do. And I start doing it and it skip "Press ENTER when it ask to insert new disc (you should already have the Memory Stick in since you just formated it).

It will scan the Memory Stick.

Type Y then ENTER when it ask if your sure you want to format."

What does it mean by " Format your Memory Stick via System Settings."
Please help!!

your PSP has a menu system... the first menu option is "Settings"... under settings there is an option you scroll down to "System Information"

about 7 options down under System Information is "Format Memory Stick"

read this

Quote:
After the custom firmware is installed take out the Battery and plug the PSP in via AC Adapter and turn the PSP on (without the Battery inserted).

After the PSP boots to XMB place the Battery into the PSP and go to Game Menu Memory Stick and select OS Pandora Battery Tool.

You will get a warning screen just press X to get to the Main Menu. When the Main Menu comes up go to "flash only serial from mso:/eeprom.bin"

Go to Quit Now and it will exit to the XMB. Now turn off the PSP and unplug it from AC Adapter. Now Take out the Battery then re-insert the Battery replacing the battery cover and use as normal now.
