Are you using Vista or XP-64BIT? Have you tried another Memory Stick? Have you tried another PC?

Try a few different combo of both.

This all is listed in the trouble shooting part. Did you even read it?

I nor anyone else can magically get this to work for you. You just have to keep trying till you find a combination of MS and PC that will work.

I'm sure I could have searched through this thread to find the info I want...but I've been searching for guides on how to install CFW all morning and I'm completely frustrated, so:

I have a PSP Slim with OFW 3.80 on it. So, do I (can I?) use this to downgrade to 3.71 THEN upgrade to CFW 3.80 M33?

UPDATE

I got 3.71 M33 installed, and am in the MUX updater. It says if you're going for 3.71 M33, the memory stick LED will flash for a few seconds...and M80, M90 etc will flash for a bit longer. It's been like, 5 minutes now. Cause for concern?

hello everyone! i'm new here, kinda. i 've been reading these forums for a while now, and it recently came to me that you are all very cool/nice and amazing modders, so i finally decided to register an account :). so nice to meet you all =D anyways, on to just a few questions, if you wouldn't mind answering:

1. I'm not a n00b at psp hacking, but from what i can gather from this, this unbricker can also be used to hack a psp?
and,
2. I have a hacked psp slim with CTF 3.90-M33-3. My friend has a slim with OF. Is it to my understanding that i can use my MMS and convert my battery into a pandora battery and then turn this pandora battery back into a normal battery when im done? Sorry, it's just i've never heard that it can be done.

thnx to anyone who helps :D

1. Yes, it can help
2. Yes, it is possible to change back your battery. Remember to make a backup of the EEPROM of your battery.

Hi Larrylje,

sory im just noob here, I bought a Battery service tool,I have PSP2001. do I have to these steps,

Now it is time to create the Pandora Battery.

PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE 1.50 FIRMWARE PSP

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run the Pandora Battery Creator.

Press triangle to backup the battery eeprom. The PSP will then reboot to XMB.

Run the Pandora Battery Creator again via Game Menu Memory Stick and press X to convert the Battery to service mode. The PSP will reboot to XMB.

Turn off the PSP and take out the Battery.

Now use the Magic Memory Stick + Pandora Battery on the PSP that needs to be unbricked or Custom Firmware installed to.

After the custom firmware is installed take out the Battery and plug the PSP in via AC Adapter and turn the PSP on (without the Battery inserted).

After the PSP boots to XMB place the Battery into the PSP and go to Game Menu Memory Stick and select OS Pandora Battery Tool.

You will get a warning screen just press X to get to the Main Menu. When the Main Menu comes up go to "flash only serial from mso:/eeprom.bin"

Go to Quit Now and it will exit to the XMB. Now turn off the PSP and unplug it from AC Adapter. Now Take out the Battery then re-insert the Battery replacing the battery cover and use as normal now..

PANDORA GUIDE: THOSE THAT HAVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE PSP

Go to Game Menu Memory Stick and run OS Pandora Battery Tool. Press X at warning screen to get to Main Menu.

Select "backup battery eeprom to ms0:/eeprom.bin"

After the eeprom is backed up go to "convert to service mode"

Go to Quit Now after the Battery has been converted and it will exit to XMB.

Once you've got 3.71 M33 installed, verified that by checking at 'Systems Settings'->'System Information'.
After that follow this guide : http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/616311

I was trying to update to 4.01 M33 but I think my battery is bad since it requires my battery to be at least at 78% before it will proceed with the update. I had downgrade my PSP from OFW 3.93 to 3.71M33 using this guide.

Hi,

Although I havent tried this guide yet but I can see that it should work and its' great but does this mean that features from the original update would also be gone after using or doing this pandora procedure?

I am new to PSP and i have problem for v4.05 update as no games found after. Shall I need to follow the procedure? My PSP is from v3.85. plese shed light as I am confused for the term FAT 1.5 or FAT/SLIM whatever Thank you Larrie

There is no need to follow the guide you linked to. All files in that guide is available in this guide if you followed it properly.

If the battery level is to low you can simply press L button and Triangle at the same time when booting the update to disable the battery level check.

Use google and find a guide that will go straight to 4.01 M33. But come on it isn't that hard to go from 3.71 M33 to 4.01 M33. You can do it in minutes.

You are using the wrong guide. Visit this guide
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313

To use this guide you need a custom firmware psp, which you don't have.

Ok, so installed CTF on my friends PSP (Slim - God Of War, came with OF 3.95. with both Pandora and MMS.) The install is a complete sucess, but when i remove my battery (pandora) and put in his, the green light will not come on =s, i dont get this. they are both slim batteries, does the psp NEED to be turned on via AC adapter for the normal batttery to work?

P.S: the psp works when pandora and MMS are inserted. and works fine.

P.S.S: sorry for posting this on the other thread (for OF users) im not sure how to delete posts =s, so if someone could delete that message, it would be much appreciated.

Your friends are wrong.

If you have a friend with CFW on their PSP then use this guide to install CFW to your PSP.

If you only have access to an Official Firmware PSP (your 3.60) then use this guide HERE to install CFW to your PSP.

It makes perfect sense if you understand English.

Use a little common sense.

If you have a bricked PSP then of course you will need to find a PSP that works or a card reader or USB adapter compatible with Pro Duo Sticks to make the MMS.

I do understand English.

No where in there does it state I need to use another PSP.

Use your brain.

Obviously if someone is looking to unbrick their PSP, then find a tutorial to unbrick their PSP, and it says what to do with the PSP, obviously they're going to assume its talking about their PSP and not a spare one, unless it stated that which it didn't.

The guide says you need a PSP with CFW on it. If your PSP is bricked then it doesn't have anything. You tell me to use my brain but I'm not the one with a bricked PSP am I! So use your common sense just like everyone else has.

If you don't like the guide feel free to go somewhere else. I don't care if ungrateful users like you use it or not.
