yeah, no fake memory sticks should be used. only use genuine sony or sandisk (256 or 512; anything else is super overkill)

and i doubt vista sp1 will fix the easy installer problem. (but there is overall improvement in sp1 RC)

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

After you 'mod' your PSP can you format the memory stick and use it normally or do you need to have those files on it to physically work with the custom firmware.

Yes you can format your memory stick and still have custom firmware. You can also keep the files on the memory stick if you want and it will still work.

To sambouka: The datel battery is a pandora battery it wont work without a memory stick. If you have memory stick with the universal unbricker and it doesnt work then you didnt install the files correctly. So if you dont have the memory stick correct or no memory stick at all then Yes a black screen is normal.

i dont get the part where it says:
Quote:
Just place the Magic Memory Stick in the PSP and then place the Datel Tool/Hardmodded Battery into the PSP and a menu should come up. X will install 2.71 M33-2 to the PSP and O will install 3.71 official firmware to the PSP.

so do we have to press X to install 2.71 m33-2 FIRST? and then upgrade to 3.71 m33-2?
please help. thx!

Thank you larry and other senior posters
mine through trial and error since last post seemed to be the latter
battery first, memory card second
but none of this would have been vaguely possible without your guide/s

very happy with now 2 slims firmware flashed since last post
=)

That was a typo and has been corrected. It was supposed to read 3.71.

Just out of curiosity, what happens if you choose option 2 on this screen:

Places a code on the MS that forces a service mode battery to boot straight to the PSP's XMB, like a normal battery would.

PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

This option lets you boot the Pandora Battery as normal Battery. To boot with Pandora Menu you will need to press whatever button is set for it to boot to. I think this version and most are L-Trigger.

So if you want to boot to Pandora Menu hold the L-Trigger down while turning on the PSP.

To boot normal just power on the PSP.

If you use this method all Memory Sticks you use on the PSP that has the Pandora Battery must have option 2 installed to it.

Lets say you want to make a Magic memory Stick. You first run the easy installer to install the Universal Unbricker V3 files to it.

Then after your done start the easy installer and do option 2 "install Booster's Boot code" you can then boot the PSP normal with the Magic memory Stick or press L-Trigger to boot to Pandora Menu.

Lets say you want to use a normal memory Stick (without the Universal files) all you do then is start the easy installer and choose option 2 "install Booster's Boot code" now the PSP will boot normal when turning on the PSP even when the Battery is converted to a Pandora Battery.

I have no idea if this is compatible with a Datel Tool Battery or a Hardmodded Battery. Others would have to test it out to see if it works. If any does test it out on a Datel Tool Battery or Hardmodded Battery then let others know what the results are.

*Larry* - UK PSP user here.
I've just ordered a 'TOOL' from Datel, which should be with me at the beginning of February. I bought my PSP a couple weeks ago, have firmware 3.71 on it, and obviously am looking to unlock it so I can use SNES and GENESIS / MEGADRIVE emulators on it.
Couple questions, if your cool with that.
I'm downloading the Sendspace files, as I type, will this method work with a PAL PSP, such as I have here in the UK?
Also, I have ZSNES and GENS, Super Nes and Genesis / Megadrive emulators installed on my laptop - I have hundreds of ROMs for these (BIN files etc). Will these ROMs be compatible with the emulators I download for my PSP once it is 'open'?
Also, a friend of mine at work mentioned ISO files (CD image files?) - for playstation games. Now, forgive my childish giddiness, but does that mean that it will be possible for me to play Final Fantasy 7 on my PSP ( I own the original game on Playstation, so legalities aren't a problem)?
Is the PSP able to do this? I've heard of POP something or other, and if I get a 4GIG memory stick (I'll be using my 1GIG for the 'magic stick' stage of cracking) will I be able to have all my favourite PS1 games on my PSP?
I'm a retro gamer geek at heart, and still have all my old SNES, GENESIS, Dreamcast (god, if I could play DC on PSP!!) and PS1 games in the shop - but we are bound by the threat of Nintendo's pirate killing Ninjas to not crack or copy any files / ISO's that we have (the trouble we've had with Gamecube!!)
Anyway, the main point of this mail is to ask you for a private message conversation - I know that it is stupid to put email addresses up on a public forum like this, but if there is a way...I don't want to say anymore, I hope you see what I'm getting at. If you can get in touch with me, then we can go from there.
And everyone else reading this post - Hell yeah!!
PSP rules!!

ok it says that the memory card has to be less then 4gb, will a 4gb sandish card work just as good as the 256 and 568mb cards, and if so can it get any long/short term dmg (assuming u do it right)? thanks.

press/duoble press "select", a meny will appear. choose M33 driver on UMD driver...

Basicly, it will trick the PSP, and the normal UMD drive will be partly disabled..

Very easy to switch between, And perfect :)

Did forget, this option will ONLY work in the XMB. orginal meny...

And for the Users that are asking about different "regions".

ALL PSP IS REGION FREE! ALSO THE GAMES, the only thing that has region locks on it, IS THE UMD "MOVIES"!

Sony did think when build this console after all :D

hmm. how do I clear this out..

If you have tried "Daemon Tools" on a PC sometime, it´s quite the same thing.. It just trick the PSP, and it thinks that a UMD with the game is inserted, but in the real word, is the ISO mounted from the MS.
And as I have told earlier, by press "select" in the NORMAL PSP meny(the one with movie, music and all the other things, isn´t it called XMB? :S )

sum. play ISO, use M33 driver.. play orginal UMD, use standard..

For those choosing NO UMD option the best driver for NO UMD is Sony NP9660.

So under UMD ISO Mode choose Sony NP9660 not the M33 driver.

@robstaa

I never Hardmodded a Battery myself so I couldn't tell you. I would assume plugging the PSP in via AC Adapter then placing the Battery in would let it charge.

Take the Battery out of the PSP so there is nothing in it (battery or Datel Tool Battery).

Now plug the PSP in via AC Adapter. Then place the Datel Tool Battery into the PSP to charge.

As told by larrylje:

To charge DATEL TOOL battery(Pandora):
Plug in AC adapter in PSP, then when booted, insert TOOL Battery, do not turn your Console off during the charging, BUT, by hold the screen buttom, will the screen turn off :)
