The PSP Slim cannot be downgraded to 1.5. Only fat PSP can. The Lowest you can downgrade to is 3.60 which was the launch firmware of the PSP slim but its nearly impossible or very difficult to flash OFW 3.60 who would want to anyway?. For CFW on a slim, the lowest CFW you can go to is 3.71.

thats not what he said he said 1.5 doesn't work on PSP slim and that is correct..
you don't need 1.5 to install custom firmware...

that is most likely the problem..
read the guide and study it follow exactly what it says and make sure you see the exact screens that are shown by larry.. if your screen doesn't look like his at that step you are doing something wrong

What I meant was that, you can flash CFW on a slim and lite but the lowest CFW you can flash to is CFW 3.71. You can upgrade to the highest availiable CFW. You spoke about flashing 1.5 to a slim? That cannot be done because the 1.5 kernel only works for fat PSP's. You'll notice that some homebrew that would usually work fine on a fat, won't load on a slim because those apps were designed to run only on fats. Ported or redesigned homebrew is the only method of running on slim. No good emulators exists at this time that can emulate the speeds the fats produce.

Let me tell you all one thing, this guide that our good friend and mentor, larrylje, has produced and properly maintains exists for a reason. You will never find misleading info that will lead you to complications, like bricking your psp. That's highly unlikely but you do need to take all necessary precautions in order to avoid a brick.
I don't get it, I've seen hundreds of posts about bricked PSP's and I wonder in amazement, How can so many people brick their PSP? I have not bricked a single PSP that I have flashed, 10 to be exact and 3 of those I currently own. Creating a NAND DUMP of your PSP before you flash CFW, and after you flash immediately before you do anything else backup your IDStorage keys, p-l-e-a-s-e.
The actual bricking of a PSP usually comes after its been flashed, its doesn't brick itself. Once flashed, the user has unrestricted access to all flash partitions and CPU Clock settings. A novice messing with flash0 can lead to a brick. Usually because the user is trying to flash XMB themes without having a clue of what he/she is doing. Also, using .PTF themes that do not correspond to the specific FW version can also lead to a brick. Ejecting the MS while an ISO was running or powering it up from sleep mode while an ISO was loaded without the MS, can also lead to a brick.
It's very difficult to actually brick a PSP, you need to try hard enough, well not hard.(Its real easy actually, delete one file, black screen of death!). If you don't mind losing $169+ dollars that you have spent, then you don't have nothing to worry about. Once you learn about the CFW structure of flash0, its nearly impossible to brick.

Actually, that's not really the problem anymore... I tried redownloading it and redoing the whole process since it wasn't working and now the problem is that the files won't copy at all. Whenever I go to copy them into the memory stick, it'll start and then all of a sudden the memory stick gets disconnected from the computer. But on my PSP it still says "please wait" but my computer says that the M drive (my ms) isn't there anymore...
There was also something else I noticed, but I didn't think it was a problem since all the files were downloaded into my memory stick. Normally, apparently you're supposed to get a screen like this:

But mine went straight from this (when it's extracting the files)

to this

Basically, it never asks me if I'm sure I want to install the files. I thought something was wrong at first, but when I checked all the files had been extracted into my MS, so I didn't worry about it too much. However, since my other files refuse to copy over, I thought that maybe this also had something to do with it.
Hi guys and gals,
just started looking into getting custom firmware on my psp earler and found this guide.
The reason i quote the above post is because this is what has happened to me. Now does this mean there is a problem or that it has installed ok? I cant check as im awaiting for my datel tool battery to arrive. My psp still shows as official firmware 3.95.
Should it be showing as custom firmware or will it only show once i have the datel battery and can finish the process the guide has me following?
Thanks

ok... i have a fat psp with oficial fmw 4.05(i upgraded it) an i have some question about Universal Unbricker V3:
1. when I`m in the step that I`m suppose to install the UPDATES/ADDONS, which one you recommend me to install??
2.If i downgrade the psp with one of this UPDATE/ADDONS, then I can play the downloaded ISO and CSO games???
3. After I downgrade the psp, I can update the psp with an official firmware, and still can play the iso and cso games?? or I have to stay with the custom fmw for ever???
I`m just about to make a Pandora Battery(hardmod) and a MMS, thats why I need to know. thanksssss

This has also been covered in previous post. This is the reason you haven't recived any replies on the issue.
Try reading the Trouble Shooting and do some of the suggested steps there.
