Disc Manufacturer ID: MBIPG101, Media Type ID: R05, Product revision number: 1
Never seen this media code before. Take Rotary's suggestion, get better discs.

That burn that you say it was successful, but you cannot use the disc:

Quote:
12:03:45 AM #15 Phase 36 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1685
Burn process started at 8x (11,080 KB/s)
-----------------------------------------------------
Last address to be written: 70319 ( 15:37.44, 137MB)

12:03:45 AM #19 CDR -1207 File DVDR.cpp, Line 5645
Book Type automatically set to: DVD-ROM
------------------------------------------------
12:05:41 AM #23 Phase 37 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1685
Burn process completed successfully at 8x (11,080 KB/s)

What exactly were you trying to burn? That 135 MB doesn't look like a DVD compilation.

Re these discs, I informed member to get better quality ones in my first post....she has however updated her Nero and firmware as advised.
It was also advised to slow the burn to 4X

@Cyprusrom, the discs in question are an Indian produced disc of low quality.

R05 is PRODISC R05, a cheap, nasty manufacturer similar to CMC-MAG, but not as bad.

I recommend using some better discs ASAP and slowing the burn speed to 4x just to be sure.

EllyHuhle:

Be CAREFUL, when updating your firmware. The GWA model LG writers are custom model jobs for each computer manufacturer that bundles them in the systems they sell. So a GWA that comes with a Compaq system might not be the same as the one that comes with a Dell system.

That's why when updating your firmware ONLY use firmware that is distributed from the company that manufactured your computer.

@ Amir
Gwendolin provided with very good link for firmware update, that has been taken care of. Just lingering on that issue I think creates more confusion..."what, firmware, where, I thought I did that?!?"
I understand what you are saying about "GWA model LG writers are custom model jobs for each computer ", however, pretty easy to distinguish between them. The Dell OEM has a E1XX firmware, the Fujitsu OEM has a 1.XX firmware.

As for that media code, those are not Prodisc, is a Moser Baer that could be sold as Phillips, Memorex, Imation,Acme, Emtec..all kinds of saddy names. R05 is the code for X16 speed(R04-X8, R03-X4).
The Prodisc R05 you were referring to are probably sold as Fujifilm X16 discs.

@ gwendolin
Thanks.
