Hello, I am new to this forum.. I actually regestered to post this topic. I saw the stick thread saying that ps3 backups are impossible, but i am to curious to find out if this actually works. (It might sound like a noob question, but im not familliar with how the ps3 works, and the software it uses)
Can you copy ps3 games using dvdfab platinum? It says that I could covert DVD title to MPEG-4/H.264 MP4 file format with can be played on Sony ps3. I've only used this software to copy Movies. I also hered that this dvdfab is used to copy psp games. I googled to see if it was possible, and some people were throwing random guesses. Any help would be very appreciated.

dvdfab copies dvds as the name suggests. ps3 games use bluray discs, so unless you have a bluray drive your pc wont even recognize the disc.
psp also doesn't use dvd they use umd's, and i don't even think you can get a umd drive for a pc. you use a virtual drive to mount the psp games and rip them.
also MPEG-4/H.264 MP4 is a video format that can be played on the ps3.

oh... Im surprised hackers diddnt crack it yet. Guess sony is giving the hackers a real challenge for once. it would be nice to see the hackers win. So i dont have to spend hundreads of dollers on games :)

Enough with all the wannabe pirates with the ps3 for crying out loud, if you cant afford the games you shouldn't have bought the system.

well i can afford the games, but paying up to $140(AU) for some game to pause, freeze, and play up on you is a bit of a kick in the head if you ask me, and dont try and debate that your games dont freeze and pause, and play up, because THEY DO, THEY ALL DO, mabye its not the games, mabye its the ps3 itself.
either way, its the game that WE SEE as pausing and freezing, not the ps3, so if there going to produce crap performance then i will have crap respect for them, and i will pirate those games until they get it right.
people would be more inclined to do the right thing if they were getting what they payed for, and not over $100 for something to pause and freeze, if your pirated game puases and freezes, who cares it was free, so you put up with it...

I haven't really experienced that so far. Except for a shudder at the beginning of the Motorstorm cinematics, that hasn't happened yet.

Ummm... I can honestly say I may experience 1 out of 100 that stutters in some way. Also, where I shop in Australia PS3 games range from $40 to $120.
Come on... I don't think that's the real reason you copy games.
Can I ask, how many games have you actually bought? Have you ever thought that it could actually be stuttering due to the fact you are using back ups? Certain media types or burners aren't as compatible with each other and can affect playback performance.
By the way, you are referring to PS2 back ups, right? As far as I know, there is no way to play PS3 back ups at this point in time.

As I live in Australia, I also have a PAL machine, so it's not that.

i'm not talking about any type of back ups, im saying that if there was a back up system for ps3 games i would use them because of the pause factor among games, if they were going to pause, i would rather they were free (copies of the original)
I've never played a backup ps1, ps2, ps3 game, only psp.
and never once have i had a pause problem with any of them, just ps3
I'm not saying that this happens all the time with ps3 games, but inuf to piss me off,
and as for 1 in 100 pausing, thats still one to many!!!

I'm sorry, I must have read that wrong. You mentioned the PS3 many times but since you mentioned playing back ups, I assumed you were referring to PS2 back ups.

The only screw ups I've had thus far is 1 or 2 overheats from RB6 Vegas (leaving it on for over 72 hours strait and when I wasn't on it I had Folding going) and COD4; which is their servers causing all the problems not our PS3's.
Rather than rant about how horrible the games play on your system, why don't you instead ask how to fix the problems, I'm sure many people on here have already found and fixed many if not all of the game screw ups that you're experiencing. This is a help forums after all.
