Hey guys, does MS replacement 360s refurbished to help with the heating problem? I'm guessing not.

I haven't had a single problem with my replacement ... its been fine for months ... I used to have extra cooling on the old one, but after I got the new one, I haven't ever had to use extra cooling - works much better

Thanks man, appreciate that. I bought a broken RROD one off Ebay for $60 and it wasn't registered so I was ale to get it repaired for free so it was cool for sure. Whoever is reading this and needs a 360, I would do that. MS will fix it for free if it has not been registered, otherwise no.

let me know what drive you get when your replacement comes back please. i am currently attempting to do the same thing to replace my banned 360, but am having a hard time getting responses from the sellers.
just out of curiousity, if you have LIVE, is your console registered?

Wabashman, my drive is the Hitachi 3 hole one (not the 00079K one thank goodness), it was made like 5-2006. Kinda disappointed it wasn't newer, but hey spent $60 on it so its cool. It would suck if you had a new 360 and RROD and here you get back an old refurb one in return. Nah, on the registering thing, don't think Live has anything to do with it being registered. Before I bid on it, I called MS and they said a second hand one was fine to send in for repair as long as it had not been registered. If it had been, would have sent it for repair at some place for like $50 or so. Definitely do it man if you need another 360, worth a shot. FolsomWholesale is the seller and they are really cool, bought a ton from them.

Yeah that's what MS told me to do and they would tell me. The problem though is that those e-bay sellers (least the 3 I thought about bidding on) won't tell you the serial numbers of the console you are bidding on (since they know people won't bid as high if they have been registered), so you are rolling the dice really. Like I had put in the seller's feedback that I was able to get mine repaired for free and so all these other RROD buyers from the same seller were like, "didn't you have to send your receipt into MS"-so you know theirs must have been registered before and MS required a purchase receipt. Noticed Folsom Wholesale doesn't have items up for sale now, that's weird, maybe taking break.

ya, i noticed he didtn have any up either. i asked a cople of ppls for the SN for the console,b ut havent got a reply back yet, could be that its 1 am where they are. but oh well, i dont need a new one right now, i was just going to use it to replace my banned one and see it on ebay to get some money out of it.

My replacement hasn't given me any prolems except that it freezes constantly, and its getting annoying, don't know if this is normal behavior for an Xbo360

Yeah, Folsom was pumping them out there left and right, not sure why he's not selling anything now. Kinda like how I bought a Blackberry off E-bay, guy sold a ton, and then one day lol, he was shut down, it's like, hope my phone isn't stolen. Good luck, you see some broken 360s go for like over $100, it's like crazy. You would know this, do you have to have a HD to get on XBL? My refurb one doesn't have a HD so was wondering if I could use that on XBL. When I remove my HD from my current console (Elite, came with the 20 GB HD) and try to sign in, it says to attach the HD and won't let me sign in without it.

im fairly confident that you need either the HD or the memory card to use LIVE. otherwise there is no way of saving your profile, and all that crap.

Well, I don't think M$ cares if it's been previously registered or not.
I bought one off of Ebay with the intentions of doing the xclamp repair myself. When it arrived, it still had the warranty sticker intact, so I figured I'd let M$ do the repairs. I called M$ and they transfered the warranty to me and a coffin was sent out for me to send the console back to them.

Yeah, I think it just depends if you get a cool rep or not. One MS rep said he would change the registration for me if it had been registered; but he said must people there don't. Others will make you send the original receipt in.

just remember to stick to your guns if someone gives you a hard time. If one person does it, that means it can be done - the other people are being lazy. If it comes to it, insist to speak to a manager or someone who can help you (specifically say that) ... but don't be a jerk on the phone, just hold your ground and don't take any non-sense from them. Yesterday I accidentally purchased a boxed version of an adobe product instead of the download version. The rep said that they could not cancel the order (it had only been placed 30 min prior!!!). I told her I didn't understand how it couldn't be cancelled and asked again. She said to call them when the boxed version came in and return it to Adobe - RIDICULOUS! I told her that I could go to almost any little joe schmo website, order something, then call up and cancel it without a problem ... and adobe, the king of the web, csan't do that??? She then put me on hold, said she was processing cancellation, and that it would be complete in a few hours - HA!!
Just stick to what you want and you'll get it - like I said, if one person can change the registration, everyone else can - and point that out to the rep.

ya i just called MS up to see if the console im looking to buy was registered, and it was, but he was like all you need is the first/last name, address, and phone # of the origonal registerer, and they will reregister it for you.

well just got one RROD from ebay for 71 bucks. not bad id say. have a few more that i know are unregistered. might pick them up for friends. by the way, newbart, did yours have the warranty sticker on it when you sent it in?

That's cool man. So had yours been registered? If it had been, did the seller give you the info of the previous registered person? Folsom had said in their ads they wouldn't give anything out so that sucked. Sounds like your seller was a lot cooler than mine, cool they would give you the serial numbers before. My warranty sticker was intact, sure they will fix yours regardless. I tell you man, it took FOREVER for me to get my coffin (i'm in FL), they sent it ground and wow, it took like 8 business days from when I called, crazy. But once I sent it, sent on a Monday and they shipped another on Thursday so that was cool.

it was unregistered, or so the seller said to me, but he is a small time seller (feedback of 53) so i should be able to get the info if i need it. i already emailed him for the SN so i can call MS and get the box shipped out tomorrow.

well i call up MS to get it registered and have the box sent out. get all the way to where the indian hits process, and it wouldnt work for him due to server upgrades that were taking place. which i know he wasnt lieing about, because the other people i was talking to earlier today said the upgrades were slowing all their stuff down. but oh well, ill call back before i go to bed, or in the morning to get the box sent out so it will be here the same time the xbox gets here.
