Just started getting into modding, and this is my first attempt with a PSP so definitely a noob to this. My PSP has firmware v2.00 so do I have to upgrade it before following this guide, or just go with it the way it is? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will need to use a Pandora Battery + Magic Memory Stick HERE is a guide.

OR

Downgrade the PSP to 1.50 then come back to this guide and upgrade it starting at "1.50 users start here"

You can find steps to downgrade to 1.50 HERE. I recommend you update the PSP to 2.71 official firmware and use the -2.71 downgrader (make sure you check if you have a TA-82 or higher PSP system motherboard and use the corresponding -2.71 guide).

Hi i am using a phat PSP which is currently installed with a 3.52m33-4. I am trying to upgrade to 3.90. I read some of the stickies on how to upgrade to 3.90 from 3.52 and followed them and always end up with this problem:
- When i start the upgrade, on psp screen this waht happens:
unpacking... done...
pls wait...

verified 390.pbp ..ok
verified u235.prx ..ok
press x to start the update or R to cancell -immediately followed by,
update cancelled by user
than exits

I have set my kernel in my recovery menu to 3.52, i also tried formatting the memory card all doesnt seem to work. I also ran keyCleaner and there were no problems with that as well. I tried to upgrade to 3.70 that too gave me the same problem...dunno waht else to try if anyone can give some suggestions will be much appreciated. The last option will be to downgrade to 1.5 and than do all over again...

In that screen i will see bunch hex values and its corresponding values. In this screen i cant do anything like for eg the Dpad to get to the next key nor move the values down or hit the triangle button to view ascii nothing happens it looks like it just froze...i had no choice but to power off...Dont know waht is the problem and am stuck here...

Do the steps above again but instead of pressing X press O. You might have the button configuration switched. To change this so X is enter you can go into safe mode and then registry hacks and change the X/O button there.

i tried that but still the same thing...nothing happens when i try to edit the keys or move around to the next key...By the way in the registry hack i had setup X to be the enter...still lost as to why its behaving like this....I also tried a lower version, v1.2 still had the same problem....dang

0=back x=edit triangle=show ascii Dpad=next/prev key key=0004

Can't get the HEND to run under photo, am I doing something wrong? I followed the steps exactly and everything has gone good so far. I just can't get this to run so I can run the 1.5 Enabler. I appreciate any help and thanks for the first reply as well it has been very helpful.

Dude that fine, dont mess with the values off the keys!! all u need to do is see if u have keys 0x007 and 0x008, just scroll through.. have u read all the posts i done after page 9?? cos i basically told others how to do it step by step... all u need to do is create the 2 keys inbetween 6 and 9... they will appear empty once created but obviously once u upgrade to higher custom firmware they wont be..

THIS IS FROM PAGE 9.....
open idstoragemgr on psp and press triangle to view/edit keys.. scroll through and does it say under key=0007 and key=0008 key appears to be non-existent? if it does then you need to press x to edit then triangle to create key.. once you have created these keys it will say key appears to be clear with all the numbers above.. once you have done this you will be fine to run the updates....

Hi there,

I have 3 PSPs to upgrade - I think 3.71, 3.80 & 3.90. Can I go straight to the newest 5.00 or do I need 4.01 first? I'm only upgrading as we can't use wi-fi & I was told they all had to be using the same firmware. Any help would be great! Cheers.

Trying to get the -2.71 Downgrader to 1.50 to work so I can use the guide and files at the beginning of this thread but am having big issues with the HEND in the PHOTO file.

I can't get the HEND to run so that I can do the 1.5 Enabler. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

Instead of trying to launch HEND directly go to images and press triangle and select slide show in the menu. This usually will help HEND launch. Just keep trying it. It can take a bunch of tries for it to launch.

Also after each time go to system settings and cjeck the firmware. If it says HEND after the firmware number then you have it in HEND.

If you have custom firmware then yes you can use this guide to update.

If you have Official firmware then no this guide will not do. You will need to follow this guide HERE to install custom firmware.
