I'm working on downloading the files, but I have one concern. My wii is already partially bricked from SMG PAL version (my system is US). I'm not entirely sure the steps to fix that partial brick, and if someone could tell me that'd be nice.
But back to brawl, for those who didn't manage to do the 15% unplug method, it sounds like they all faced a partial brick similar to mine. Partial brick as in unable to access wii settings, double channels and what not, which, just reaffirming, you cannot delete.
So my concern is if I already have a partial brick, this second partial brick to a Jap update sounds like it might make my wii's condition even worse; which might even lead to a complete brick. Has anyone with a previously partial brick tried updating this game? And if so did you face a complete brick? Thanks.

And seriously I just paid $10 to access RapidShare for a month, makes downloading Brawl a TON easier than the slow torrents. Trust me, go for it.

good god. Im trying to find the Azumi download so bad. I found the rapidshare one but I dont have an account there. The files look like
ssbxjp.part01.rar
I've read that if I dont have a premium account there then it will take me DAYS to download. So I dont want that.
Im looking for the one that everyone says takes a few hours to finish. Im planning on downloading it over night.
But I CANNOT find it. Ive gone to google and searched

I looked at the 2nd link from the top and translated the page but nothing on that page says anything about what im looking for.
If someone would be kind enough to email me the direct link you would be my hero :)

Can someone please confirm I have the right file that everyone has been referring to? Dairantou Smash Brothers X INTERNAL JAP WII-TMD. It's 45 parts, with each pact called brawl_jap.partxx. I know it's not labeled the same as the other, but it seems to be set up the same way and was just wondering if this would generate the same beneficial results that has been happening on the board.
Also, can anyone comment on if the non-brickblocked, updating to 15 percent, resetting, and inserted brickblocked disc, works, and if doing so has caused any negative side effects. I've also heard that the duplicate channels does disable your Wii system settings, but if you have 3.1 firmware, this disabling doesn't occur. Any definitive answers here please?

Yes Pupito that is the same exact thing I downloaded and I'm playing SSBB now.
As far as character unlocks without a save, and the restricted features, i think we can only unlock Snake and Ness?

i've just been playing vs but i can still play other game modes, i just choose not to go back and forth through the menus. everything seems to work... except online. i cant figure that out yet. just playing vs mode i've unlocked luigi, marth, and that big headed kid...his name is escaping me at the moment.the game did freeze up once or twice and i can almost guarantee i hit a screen that says game disc cannot be read. maybe i burned it too fast at 8x, should've done 4x but vs plays without any hiccups so no need to waste a disc. i can wait for the other modes till next month. i have vs and maybe online vs, so no need to rush.

MistahK, did you burn it on a single or dual layer disc? Did you interrupt theupdating at 15 percent, or let it go all the way? Did you become semi-bricked?

single layer memorex 8x burning speed with img burn, i did brick blocker on one iso and unplugged, not sure if that made a difference but my wii is fine. still plays everything, still a us console, version still intact. nothing has changed. i also checked and played my retail copy of mario galaxy.

Fantastic. Also, I know the game crashes on cutscenes, but can you keep pushing start to skip the cutscenes so they don't need to be loaded?

Quick update for you guys:
Modded wii with wiikey, at 1.9 SMG patch, 3.1u
Downloaded the ISO
Burned ISO w/ Nero on standard sized dvd (TDK DVD-R) at 8x
No brickblocker, just the iso.
The wii did not recognize the disc at first, not until I set region free on via 1.3 config.
Updated the system when prompted, and tried the 10%-15% 5 times with no luck. Tried it at 10%, gradually increasing by 5% each time up until I got to 50%, at which point the two extra channels were added w/o smash bros working.
So I decided to update all the way and the game now works perfectly.
The update as far as I can tell only adds the two channels (japanese forecast and another channel, which can be moved off the default menu anyways) And it shrinks down the amount of channels you can have on the menu. I can still change the wii settings fine, wii still using 3.1U
This is what I've noticed so far, so for those wondering:
the update does not brick the wii, even if you pull the plug during the update
the 10%-15% trick might not work for everyone

Did you just semi-brick your wii, or did you do that 15% trick? If you just semi-bricked it, what are the other sideffects besides duplicate channels?

i really haven't run into cut scenes. i don't really care to much for other modes at the moment.

15% trick, but i just guessed and pulled plug. no extra channels or content for me. wii settings are fine. everything is good.

Since the update just lalows the Wii to read dual layer discs, would it be advantageous to let the update fully finish, in spite of the double channels. Would this have the game run any smoother, or will it not make a difference? Also, can anyone confirm that updating fully, when on 3.1 firmware, that you DO NOT lose access to your system settings, and therefore are not semi-bricked?
