Ok. I've got a Japanese Wii (NTSC-J) and I even updated through the configuration panel before inserting the Brawl single layer straight-out iso burn.
The disc asked me to update (in japanese) so I said yes and it quickly updated and it has Semi-Bricked my wii.
I can still play other games, but I get a black screen now when I try and go into the Config section. Worst of all, Brawl doesn't work - I get an error which is all in japanese apart from the number 001 amongst the message.
gutted :(

I have a 3.1j ntsc-j wii, and im downloading the azumi iso, can anyone please tell me what to do when the iso is done downloading. i have no idea what to do when it comes to this stuff and i dont want to screw up my wii. someone pelase reply

If you did the update and it Semi-bricked your Wii then you probably didn't have Brawl. There are whole bunch of fake torrents out there so you need to be careful. One of the more popular fake torrent is the PAL version of Strikers which I'm guessing you downloaded. I heard that Semi bricking can be fixed by inserting another game with an update for your console. Link below is the torrent my friend used and he brought it over and we played it for about 6 hours last night. My Wii is Japanese one also and it forks just fine.

Is wifi working for you guys? mine stays at the practice screen and never past that. It's also waiting for the 3 other players.

Hey wassup guys, i never post on this stuff just read but i really need some help here. got a question and will appreicate it if u guys could help me answer it.
I just got a wiikey installed today and have had all the updates for the system, i have a version 3.1 firmware so i was wondering if i have to do all that crap everyone else is doing and having trouble with to prevent a partial brick such as using brickblocker, the 15% method and whatnot?, i dont mind duplicate channels as long as my wii isnt semi bricked. thx (=.

If you have a Jap Wii all you have to do is burn the game on a single layer DVD and play it. The update is safe because it's the same region Wii. Only problem is it's only half of the game so you can't do too much besides VS mode, so if you watch the OP scene or try to play story mode it will error out. I'm playing the game right now and it's the same torrent I used.

oh it was definitely brawl. I downloaded the TMD iso off of a newsgroup and I get the intro screen with the japanese writing and super smash logo.
I'll try that Azumi one and wait patiently for a newer NTSC-J update to unbrick it again. Who needs the config screen anyway..
crudohgod: look up the Wii Region Patcher Compatibility list. It has info on bricking and ISOs

not to sound like a jerk but that's the most ridiculous thing i have ever heard. but i have luigi as well, also snake, ness, marth and a few others. hmmmm i don't know.

Isn't it? I couldn't believe all of the characters are unlocking so fast. How long did it take you to unlock your characters? Did you do it in VS mode or do you have the whole game and doing it in 1 player mode? I'm getting the full copy of the game tomorrow and I hope I can use this file for it.

because he didn't unplug his power cord at 10-15%
I did it and mine works and no semi brick
I just can't get wifi to play. Anyone else playing wifi?

That's not why. the 10-15% is to stop dual channels on NTSC-U Wiis. My wii is Japanese, it's the same region.

how do i dump a wii save to my computer in a way so that others can use. i just unlocked the last character and have most of the stages unlocked. basically, the brawl essentials. :-D help me to dump it and ill upload it.
