My +R rip works on another console, but not on mine. Its a console thing, not a media thing or a program thing.

Then i read that it has to be wiikey firmware 1.9g, so i updated it and sucess!
My dvd burner: matshita uj-850s
My dvd+R dl- moserbaer india- (i thought moserbaer sucked, but it doesn't!)
Most of all! no dual channels!!!!!!!!and direct boot
P.S-i think the error 001 is caused by using Dvd-r dl, instead of dvd+r dl, and i used imgburn v 2.3.2.0
i heard that the game might start to crash after a few hours of play.. I have to hope not!
I used Varbatim DVD+R DL and I still get 001 error.

Yeah, I usually do after a little while. I have no luck finding people to play online with. If you have the friend code of people to play witgh it works pretty easily. I played online with dervid last weekend.

I might of just noticed something. Is there anybody out there with a US Wii getting the 001 error? I see couple other people saying that they're getting it on their Jap Wii, but I haven't noticed anybody specifically mentioning it happening to their US Wii. If it's only happening to Jap Wiis then that might be a place to start.

Error 001 is the error you get when you have a unauthorized device detected in your Wii not the green text one. Green text is the disc read error screen. the error 001 error screen is all black with white text reading: Error #001, unauthorized device has been detected. (エラーコード001 不明なデバイスが見つかりました in Japanese)

Will the dup channels from SSBB (J) affect your wii at all in the future like now being able to play future releases like Mario Kart Wii.

I do not have a DL burner
So if I were to take the DVD5 version, do the update to 15% and unplug
Then insert a brick blocked DVD 5 version to play
It will work fine, right? I know I'll miss out on some videos and what not, but other than that, no problems?

Dup channels should not interfere with any critical Wii functions.

If anyone only has the DL iso and wants the single layer one, all you have to do is burn the dl one with imgburn onto a dvd5, it'll ask whether u want to do it, say yes, when its done it'll ask to finalize, say yes. Works perfectly as a dvd5 for me. So for anyone that's going to need both isos, just download the dual layer one and use this method to make the single layer one. Also, if you brickblock the dvd9 image then burn it to a dvd5 it'll still be brickblocked. I hope this helps someone, it sure would have helped me :)

Yes, so you understand my point or what?
I was advising the guy/gal with a NTSC wii to run NTSC software for a NTSC firmware update.. A 1000 times more reliable & safe than a dodgy 15% workaround with Jap firmware.

Since this thread is incredibly long, I thought I'd post how I got my Dual Layer Brawl to work with D2CKey to help anyone who doesn't want to read a lot of stuff to figure it out :)
First you need the Dual Layer ISO, the one i got was called:
"Dairantou Smash Brothers X READNFO JPN Wii-Caravan"
Make sure your wii is updated to 3.1u.
There are two methods, one where you get japanese weather and news channels added to your wii and one where you don't. If you don't care about channels then do this:
Get Imgburn if you don't have it. Open it and select the iso. click TOOLS>SETTINGS>WRITE>LAYER BREAK>User specified and type 2084960. Burn the iso to a DL DVD9. Put it in the wii and when it loads it will ask to update, say yes and let it finish the update. You can now play Brawl with all the features!
If you don't want the duplicate channels and whatever unknown stuff comes with the japanese firmware full update, then do this:
First burn the iso to a dvd9, or if you don't want to waste one, burn it to a dvd5. For the dvd5 open imgburn and the iso, when you try to burn it to a dvd5 it will warn you, just say yes and also say yes to finalize the disc when its done. If you chose to use a dvd9, you don't need to specify a layer break like before because you won't be using the second layer of the disc, you're just using it to update. Once either dvd is burned, put it in the wii and say yes to update. When it gets to 15% (under the w in power), unplug the power to the wii. When you turn it back on it will be able to read DL discs, BUT it won't have the japanese channels. Now, you need to burn your actual game disc. First, you need to use Brickblock to make sure the dvd you burn doesn't try to update the wii again. Once you have brickblocked the image, open it with imgburn. Click TOOLS>SETTINGS>WRITE>LAYER BREAK>User specified and type 2084960. Burn it to a dvd9. Put it in the wii and it should load without asking to update. You can now play brawl with all the features and you don't have duplicate channels!
I did the second method and my Brawl works, including sub space emissary and everything, I have no duplicate channels and I don't need to swap the dvd5 out at the menu to get it to load.
For reference I used Fujifilm DVD+R DL 2.4x Dvds and I burned it 2.4x (Made in Taiwan)
Hope this helps someone!

Quick question:
Can someone give me the file size of working SL and DL Brawl .isos? I just want to compare working files to mine to make sure I don't have some stupid 4 or 8 GB trojan or a completely different game.
The SL I have is 4,699,979,776 bytes.
The DL I have is 8,511,160,320 bytes.
Thanks!
