so my question is this that my ps3 dosnt detect my ipod which is 80gb, but it detects my 2 gb ipod can someone help me with this. This is weired it detects 2gb ipod but not the other one.

I have an 8GB nano and it wouldn't display my songs. it said 'no data found'. I had to press triangle and choose 'display all'.

It worked and my ipod music played fine through my ps3.

Also, isnt there a sort of 'disc mode' you can set your ipod to so you can store data on it too like a normal flash drive. Maybe that could have something to do with it recognising it as a drive or not.

Disc mode affects the way your PC communicates with the hard drive on your iPod... I think the iPod stores a configuration file on board. That is why when you connect to an iTunes on a different computer it will remember your settings.

I connect my 80gb iPod to my PS3 without any problem and I have disc use enabled, so if you haven't done that... I would suggest giving that a try. :-)

The reason you need to press the triangle button is because the PS3 OS is designed to only read certain directories. If you created a folder structure on your iPod like this... PS3\VIDEO\yourvideo.mp4, then your PS3 will show the video file as soon as you plug the USB device (eg: iPod) in.

Note: You must use capitals for the folder names. You can do the same for music (PS3\MUSIC\yourmusic.mp3) and photo's (PS3\PICTURE\yourphoto.jpg).
