The graph meant the acual D2Ckey and not your Wii. D2Cs, as of now, can not be updated. Thats where the D2Pro came in, since its from the same company as the D2Ckey but it is newer, requires less solder points, and has the ability to update.

AFAIK updating your Wii system from DVD (games) will not harm the console as long as it is from the same region. Just update the Wii online to avoid system updates from games, even though it really shouldn't matter.

I didn't realize that I had to solder the jumpers for the region code till after I put the d2pro in and closed up the console

seems to work fine ... in fact, perfectly

is there any drawbacks to not soldering the region jumper?
