I think every ps3 comes with a 1 year manufacturer warranty anyway. And after the year is almost up you can do continuous play, where you pay about 4.99 a month and if theres a problem they have to replace it, thats what im going to do when mines up.
If your ps3 breaks (happend twice to me) just phone sony, tell them the problem and give them your serial no. and they normally replace it the next day.

No, the warranty is the same around the world, I imagine the extended warranty that you are looking into is the store warranty. The store warranty is alot easier if something goes wrong because you can just go to the store and swap your ps3 for another and then they deal with the crap.

Whereas with the standard manufacturer warranty you gotta deal with Sony, and the turn around time to get your ps3 back could be anywhere from 12 business days to over two months.

I'd much prefer the store warranty personally, depending on how long it lasts and the cost.
