Hi All
To get rid of my dvd's I copied em all on to a PC.
I tried using Windows Media Player 11 to share the files, but doesn't seem to work with PS3 firmware 2.10...
Both TwonkyMedia and TVersity works fine.
My problem is that i can point to seperate folders containing vob files and only play individual files, not whole disks. And when listing files i just get bunch of "vts_01_0.vob etc.
Is it really not possible to play em with out converting them in to diffrent formats?
Maybe to mount the dir as DVD-ROM emulating an inserted dvd to the blu-ray drive?
I've searched the web and found lost of info regarding conversion of files including hd dvd files, but nothing like this...
I see the conversion as a last resort.
Are ther really no way of helping the ps3 to identify the folders as DVD-Rom - maybe a simle "Triangle"-> "play folder" add-on option?
I'm from the pc world, where every software dvd player has the option to play from folder... It reads the info in the IFO file. Pure format, easy copy past. Any software dvddrive around like virtualdrive for mounting images/iso's ?

Yes it is possible without re-encoding.
Just use an application to de-mux the mpeg2 video and the Dolby/DTS audio from the multiple VOB files into a single file each. PgcDemux can do this: http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/dvdtools.htm .
Note: There is absolutely no conversion done here. All you are doing is extracting the original streams from the DVD folder structure and packing them into a single mpeg2 program stream.
Are there anyway to mount images? img or iso files? Or is this a part of the copy protection suite of the ps3?
If possible, i could just drop images of my dvd's and then do a real mount of the image - having the ps3 to recognize the dvd's as real discs with the same options as when inserting a disk to the drive...
No, currently theres noway to do this with the PS3.
I dont even think you can do it with PS3 Linux, but i could be wrong.
Its just rip main movie into single vob or encode.
