The used controller I got from gamestop does the same thing! It turns left randomly while playing. Im not sure why but I recently got a dual shock 3 on Ebay and I only use the buggy controller for video playback as it doesn't mess with my blu-rays or dvds or any video on the HDD. I have considered selling it back to gamestop as I know they won't test it properly (or at all for that matter). I have wondered if anyone else had this issue.... now I wonder what the cause is.

Mine is a 60 actually. I was talking about the controller though. I don't think its a system issue.. only because my other sixaxis works fine and my Dualshock3 works fine. I just think a shitty controller came into gamestop and I ended up buying it.

Is it a third party controller?
Unfortunatly, believe it or not, dirt and grease from your hands do gradually build up underneath the stick which can lead to the problem your having.

I like the 80 Gig better anyhow. I'm also a fan of many older PS2 and PS1 games.. so it works out for me.

My crappy controller is a Sony Sixaxis.. not a third party. I'm wondering if there is a way for me to maybe clean the joysticks by opening the controller itself up.

... damn greasy hands :-P

LOL i know thats how my SNES controllers fecked up, them where the days...
Now, before i start playing, i wash my hands, wierd maybe but prolongs the life of my controller, i ave been doing it since i got my PS1 and never had any problems since.
I think it takes a torx driver mate with a hollow point, easily found in any hardware shop.

I have that issue with my PS3 controller. I dropped it in water, and the only thing that seems to be damaged from it is that the left analog stick alwasy seems to go in the down direction. I end up buying another sixaxis though. anyway...I would have to turn off my PS3 cuz it wont respond at all. You cant do anything cuz The controller seems to be stuck in the down position. I had nothing to do this weekend so I took the controller apart to change out the left analog with a PS2 left analog stick. I will be getting a soldering gun later today to remove the small component for the left analog to switch the parts out. Only difference between a ps2 controller and a ps3 sixaxis is the motion sensing, dual shock and the mother board. And of coarse the PS button. The analog joystick and everything else seems the same. Dont know if any one has tried this but I rather spend money to be able to repair the contollers instead of dishing out another $50 to buy a new controller. I will be getting a DS3 and sure as hell dont want to deal with this issue. I have a nother controller that Ive had since Feb'07. it works fine except the left analog is worn and the spring that puts its back in the middle after you move it is dead. So if I move the stick to the botum it will stay at the bottom. I will update you guys if this works
