Hi,
I haven't been here in a year, I'm sure someone has figured this out by now. What's the easiest way to use a real browser instead of the fing PS3 browser?

There are tutorials all over this site. I use Ubuntu linux. Check out psubuntu.com. It's free and the installation instructions can be found there. You will need 10 gigs free HDD space. Keep in mind that this will not replace your computer. The specs are low because Sony didn't give us 3d graphics support with the other os. With ubuntu I can do more than just surf the web. I can download torrent files, play retro games(snes, nes, genesis emulators), email, IM with Gaim(AIM for linux), and the best thing of all is I'm learning an os other than Windows.

I use Redhat at work. It's the same things as CentOS. Do you think that will run on the PS3? I dont know the requirements of the OS or the specs of the PS3.

I'm about %90 sure I've seen a guide for putting Redhat onto the PS3, I don't remember where from it was awhile ago the last time I've seen it.

Why internet explorer?
Firefox ftw :P Less viruses, and looks better.
Also, a question about the ubuntu thing. I've put it into my ps3, and i've followed most of the steps. Now it starts up and says something is missing. Do i need a USB keyboard for this? I have wireless keyboard&mouse, but the keyboard port is the old one. the purple one. Thanks.

Yellow Dog Linux for PS3 is the same thing as Redhat I believe.

Yes you need a USB keyboard and mouse. Wireless works as long as it's USB.

@grkblood, fedora and yellow dog are both redhat and you can put either on the ps3. ubuntu is debian based.
@oluvinu, no its not possible to put ie on the ps3, what do you mean by streaming websites? im sure quicksilverscreen is an online tv site, so if you mean streaming videos to your ps3 then that can be done with firefox, but it has its limitations regarding macromedia flash which is what most online videos are loaded with.

hi
what i meant is that netflix uses internet explorer because of active x control and i would like to use the ps3e rather than the laptop connected with an rgb cable. i want to avoid have to use cable and do everything wireless and was trying to get a browser that is not limited. firefox is good but it does not allow the same as internet explore does . my main goal is to stream the online tv sites and netflix media through the browser
is it possible ?
