I was wondering.

I don't see a point in spending $70.00 for a new controller with force feedback if sony isn't going to give us game updates that add force feedback to current titles.

I really don't see a point in this big deal if gt5 will support it i dont like racing games where after you beat the game to get extra content you have to spend 5.00 each car and 10.00 each track.

I don't play metal gear so it doesn't matter to me.

So in all honesty.

How many here at afterdawn.com are going to purchase the new controller.

I think they are patching games that are already out so they can use the rumble. Theres a list of compatible games on some site, try google.
I'll be getting one for MGS4, but I think controllers are really overpriced.
Its either get a new controller or a new game if you dont have much money like me, which is a shame, because then if you buy the controller you have no new game to play, and if you get the game you still have your old non-force feedback, maybe falling apart controller.

First it is not $70. $55 to be exact, and yes I will be picking one up just like I did when I had to do it for my PS1 ~ 2 different times....See when the PS1 was first released it had only a digital controller (no analog sticks) so when the analog stick version came out I had to buy one and then again later when the first dual shock was released.

You know what the funny thing is I don't regret nor hold Sony responsible for that, it is just part of technology and upgrades over time as well as it offered something new that wasn't available before. Now for the Dual Shock 3 I STILL don't hold Sony responsible (I do for Immersion though) but I would like a Dual Shock sixAxis to add to my collection so as I stated already I will be getting one and won't be upset for doing so. Nor anyone else should be (unless towards Immersion).

Wow, That picture of the digital controller brings back memories. :D
I know what you mean about technological ( Thats a word right? I forget. ) upgrades.
I remember the first game I needed an analog controller for was Ape Escape for PSone. I was a bit pissed off because I had to buy a new controller just to play the game, ( you could only move by analog stick. )
But it was just the start of an upgrade thats all.
Since I dont have much money, I pre-orderd GTA4 and now im saving for Dualshock 3. Here in the UK there like £30-35 which might not be much to some people but im poor :D
There are a few games I could spend the money on instead but I'll just have to wait. I know that I wont regret it when I get one anyway.
The force-feedback is supposed to be great in MGS4 :D

See Ya Later.

So I picked the DS3 yesterday at EB games and used it last night. Now I know that COD4 does not support DS3 but I did read via Sony's blog and Wikipedia that Assassins Creed supports DS3. Was there anything else that I needed to do besides plugging in the controller into one of the USB ports on the PS3? I played Assassins Creed and there was no "Rumble". I did press the PS button and Rumble was on. Any thoughts??

Is the DS3 controller more sturdy than the sixaxis? I will get one if this is so. The sixaxis price should drop since the DS3 is finally here. If you play games a lot, esspecially sports games like myself (NBA 2K8), then your left analog stick becomes worn. An old ps2 controller never has this problem and its over 10yrs old. And I have a 2nd cousin who has a ps1 and those things still work like new. Its starting to be a rip off that a more expensive controller is less reliable. Sony needs to raise the production cost on the sixaxis controller and keep it at the same price if they wont drop it. Thats the last thing you should have to worry about is if your controller works to the best of its ability or not.

Well its feels sturdier I guess?? Besides the added weight cause of the dynamos that are now in the controller it's basically the sixaxxis. I mean it does not feel cheap if that makes your decision easier.

What about the analogs though? Thats my main concern, if the DS3 is going to be half dead in a month like the sixaxis's im just going to buy a third party controller; seriously there is no need of sony's shabby construction.

The analog sticks feels (from what I can remember when I bought the PS3) better than what was packed with the PS3. They are a bit on the stiff side which I can see as they are new.

I guess only time will tell. Im gonna get one, but not so much for the rumble. Got use to not having it since the PS3 has been out. (got my PS3 in Feb'07) I know they eventually will, but hopefully they come out with diff color DS3 soon other than black and white.
I posted this on another thread but Im gonna try to switch the analog component from a ps2 controller to a ps3 controllers motherboard. Its a lil project of mine and I will be purchasing a soldering gun before the week is up.

JUST A THOUGHT: wouldnt having the rumble interfere with the motion sensing? Just the vibration may cause the sensor to think that the controller was moved. In certain games this may not be a good thing. I wonder if Sony thought of that and the rumble is disabled when a motion is expected to be used to perform a certain task.

Swapping the analogs sounds like an awesome idea, be sure to post a guide if you pull it off.

And no it wont interfere, there was a motion sensing controller for the ps2 made by pelican and it had rumble as well.

I wont be getting one, in fact I will be picking up another sixaxis because rumble isnt important to me anymore. Or maybe should I and get the rumble for 2nd player, but my friend might say it was the shaking why he lost. sore loser XD

My sixaxis is wrecked from over 17 days of CoD4 and about six months of six hour resistance days before that. I attribute the analogs wearing down to the use that I get out of the PS3. I can't recall any game system that I put this much use on in so short of time.

Zero you've had your DS3 for a while now correct? Are the analogs better than what was put into the sixaxis controllers? I'm dieing to know and I cant afford to blow $60 bucks on something that's going to be busted a month or 2 down the road; especially this close to mgs4.
