Hi
Need some help. I have a 2006 Eurovox. I tried updating the software by putting the new blue firmware. However, towards the end it said downloading failed. This led me to think that the Eurovox 2006 is a clone. Can anyone let me know if I am correct.
Now, I've lost all my channels. I have been trying to get hold of the clone software but its been difficult because once I have saved the clone firmware, it doesn't open. Any help or links would be most appreciated.
Thanks

It always says downloading failed, give it a few seconds after that and it will say download complete. Look down through the grill slot if you see red blobs on the board screws its a clone.

Thanks for replying back scouser. When I get home, I will be sure to check the grill slot.
Your right about when it says downloading fail and then a few seconds later, it does say, downloading successful.
I thought that I had sorted the problem out but then I tried to scan the Transponder, it goes to about 6 out of 770 and then the box automatically switches off and comes back on to the menu. While the box is scanning, it has the letters PEAA, something like that, I can seem to remember. Any more assistance please and thanks.

PEAA is a protection error code which leads me to believe it could be a clone. What firmware version were you flashing it with? Its not a problem that cant be fixed as it can be fixed quite easily.

Sounds like your box is a clone alright. Check it as I said. If this is the case, (probably is), you need to flash with the clone firmware.
You will find the loader and firmware here in Eamos.
Please do a factory reset first, power down the EV then power it back up and flash. You need to use Dnupman which is in that folder to flash the firmware to the EV as it is not a UFL.

I've found the loader already. The problem seems to be the firmware. I seem to save it on my USB but it doesn't seem to open when I use the loader. Thanks for everything

Hi Scouser
Just to let you know that I checked the grill slot and there were no red blobs.
I also have some more information.
The system information is:
Model: DVB-XC BOX STV
S/W VER: 1.0 SSC4 Apr 21 2008
H/W VER: 2.0s
Bootstrap: v001
Website: -----
Is this information any use to you. I don't think the box is a clone. Maybe I need to adjust something when I'm scanning in the transponder e.g. symbol rate etc. Let me know if you know what I should do.
Thanks

Thanks Scouser.
I just wanted to say I done a factory reset and loaded the firmware and it worked. Thanks.
However, I have a problem with my Eurovox Max 2008. Its nothing major. Before I put the new firmware on the Eurovox, I used to manually put the codes in. Only last week I decided to put the new firmware and every time I update the channels, the channels get saved automatically in an autosort way alphabetically. When I used to update the channels with the old firmware, the channels used to remain the same way I had them e.g. BBC 1, BBC 2. Bascially how I wanted my channels to be. Is there any way that I could take the autosort off.
Another problem I seem to have is that some of the channels have no signals since I updated the Eurovox. Most channels are working but no all.
Thanks

Some TPs have moved or been added. Do a factory reset and rescan or get the CDF from your other recently scanned box and load this to the Max V, (If that CDF contains all your channels).
When updating channels, turn FAV Sort OFF if you want to keep your current FAV set up. Menu, installation, user installation, press yellow button. Turn Fav Sort OFF. Important to press EXIT, DO NOT press OK. Then just update channels as normal.

Thanks scouser for all your help.
When I sorted my Eurovox, I sorted out my cousins too. He told one of his mates who passed on his Starview box to me.
He told me that the software has gone and I said I would find out what can be done about it. Any suggestions.
Cheers

Suggestion No.1 don't tell people you can update any boxes :)
Suggestion No.2 follow Celt's Starview Guide to update the SV ;)

Hi Scouser
I'm thinking of getting the latest Eurovox. At the moment I have the Eurovox Max V 2008. I'm thinking of selling that for about a ton. Now I need your advice on which is the best box to buy and how much would it cost? I also wanted to know if it is worth buying a new box or should I stick to this one.

Max V is a good box. The EX5100 PVR is a single tuner box that you can use to record progs with onto a Hard Disk Drive. The soon to be released EX7000 is a HD box, but TBH there isnt many HD channels available on cable as of yet.
Honestly if you just want a simple channel giver, then stick with the Max V. I am not even going down the road of linux open sourced boxes and comparisons :)
