Hi all,
For the past few months i have been using an optical cable for sound but this morning it stopped working, i tried another optical cable but still no luch, i used the default composite cable provided and it worked. But when i change the settings back to use optical theres nothing, Ive also noticed that the ps3 optical port is very loose, is that normal? any help will be appreciated thanks
John
Just make sure Optical is selected and all sub-options (AC3, DTS, AAC) are seleted too. If all of that is good looks like it is a hardware issue, I know the optical port on my PS3 is not loose.
The optical port definitely should not be loose. Call up Sony and explain your problem to them and let them troubleshoot it and see what they say. I'd say hardware issue for sure, but I didn't invent the PS3, Sony did.
i had this same problem...i rented F.E.A.R, an no audio playback.. so i switched to *red* & *white* audio cables (the stock ones) and it works fine..i dont really need to worry about actually how good my sound is. I already have a 5.1 SonySurround, and my Composite HD cable has *green* & *blue* & *red* for video, and *red* and *white* for audio output, so i put an extension on the audio output to my amp for sound and ANYWAYS, everything works MINT**
