Guide: How To Burn XBox360 Games

Hi. I am buying an Xbox 360 that is modded with the 1.51 mod. I think I got it for a good deal at $200 with 4 games of my choice. I am now interested in being able to burn games of my own. I am not a fan of downloading games, so I was interested in backing up original games. I've read a few forums and then watched some stuff on youtube.
If someone could just post a link to the simplest backup tutorial I would really appreciate it. I have faith in information from this website. Do I need to buy a different dvd drive to recognize the games? For example, for the wii I know u need a specific LG drive. Will any DL drive work?
I am trying to weigh the benefits and the costs. I can get games for $5 each from an outside source and it seems that buying a drive (if needed) plus the costs of the DL discs plus the wear and tear on my drives plus the originals isn't cost effective. Am I just wasting my time If I only want maybe 15 games max?

Hey i'm kinda new to the whole xbox burning thing.
i have great experience with torrenting but i just can't figure this out.
i have been trying to get a new game for the Xbox 360 and i have downloaded different torrents and they all do the same thing.
i follow the exact directions on the thread and my xbox only reads the discs as DVDs (it tries to play the game as if it were a movie) not xbox games. i have gotten a few games before but this one has really stumped me.
Think you can help me out?

Do a forum search for wave 3, that will explain why the game doesn't work.
Xbox 360: Slim untouched with a faked 320 GB harddrive for XBL, phat with LT 3.0, played Halo early, so going on live would be an instand ban, also with a faked 320 GB harddrive
PS3: Untouched 160 GB Slim, 60 GB Fat with latest Rogero and 160 GB internal harddrive.
PSVita: hardly ever play it
GameCube: Black with a Viper chip installed. With gameboy player. Trying to get a Wavebird controller.

I need help ready just about every tut and i tried every program to burn with and got 20 costers from it. my 360 drive is flashed and i have a super write master dl burner in my cpu and memorex dvd+r dl disk

i use a samsung external s224 (writemaster) and imgburn and verbatim DL+R and always burn at 4.1x and have never had any problems. what ixtreme is ur xbox flashed whith? for newer games so called wawe 3 games u need ixtreme 1.5.1 or higher.

yea i got my 360 flashed with the latest. when i go 2 burn a game the computer says it faild

Hello, i have been having this problem for awhile, and no matter what tutorial i use, i always get the same problem. upon inserting the disc it just plays as a DVD, and comes up with the XBox 360 logo, any help would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Well if it doesn't play the latest games then it's not 1.51 or 1.6. So you will need to update it.

can someone tell me what did I do wrong? I tryied burning at 1x speed but it reached 4.0x... and my Asus isn't in img burn booktype list so I thought it's pioneer and let it do it itself :(

Anyone knows why the X360only reads the burned disc as DVD??
When inserting the disc I can only "play the DVD".
I've had no problems burning before, but a HDD crash forced a re-install of OS and all software. I have a 5170A and a 7170A burner...both able to set to DVD-ROM booktype.
I only use Verbatim, and as mentione, no problems until this re-install #%&¤(=#%
Any suggestions?
After 10 burns ending up as DVD I am running out of options here.
Have tried several FW upgrades and downgrades on both drives....no luck.

ah I don't believe it but the cd works! I made another one cause that cd had a few serious scratches ... but still I burned with 5000kb/s speed and I don't know what to do to burn it slower maybe I should use cd clone instead of img burn?

I have tried everything, I'm burning correct with the right settings, no biggie at all, I'm not a noob, I know how to burn stuff lol among other things, I'm a PC technician :) The problem is that my burns keep failing all the time, it simply won't burn. Now to read my problem in detail I'm gonna quote what I said on another forum, they couldn't help me, I hope you guys can or atleast tell me what the problem is. here it goes:

Doesn't my writer like the philips media? Is my writer broke? ( I personally don't think so cuz I can pretty much burn everything else without any problems in Nero).
Maybe Philips isn't good for xbox360 games? All I know is that Philips is a top notch brand, it's been like that for ages, from TV's to audio hifi stuff to CD's and DVD's, Philips has always been quality. So I don't think that the media is bad, maybe imgburn is a bad software ;) well hey what u expect from free software lol, if you compare Nero to Imgburn, we all know who the winner is ;)
So what does that error mean? How to fix it? Is there any way to burn x360 games with Nero? Why must one use Imgburn or CloneCD instead of Nero?
EDIT:
Oh forgot to mention it, I tried to set it to 2.4x, I really did, I set it as 2.4x but imgburn burns it at 4x !!!! He won't accept it, no matter what speed I put, it burns at 4x.

A week later has passed by:
Yesterday I have bought verbatim 25 pieces dvd's, it failed again with the same error :s please help me, I want to know what the problem is, why does it keep failing?
What is the reason? I have spent so much on many dvd's and now on those expensive verbatims and it still fails. It's not funny.
Does the program imgburn suck? I mean come on it can't be my dvd burner, it's not even 1 year old, I have the latest firmware, I even re-installed my windows few days ago with all the latest updates. So I really don't know what the problem is.
Please I'm begging you all the geniusses out there to help me and find a solution or atleast the source of my problem so I know what to replace.
Everything is working fine with Nero like I already said, I can burn everything even DL in Nero without errors, so I'm beginning to believe that imgburn sucks as a program, the program itself is causing all these errors, that has to be it.

As you can see I have the right verbatim Disc ID: MKM-003-00 and I get the same error. So it's not the media, it's not my burner, it works just fine with Nero on all burning modes. So it has to be the stupid imgburn? That is my conclusion if you think logicly.
Any other program for burning xbox360 games that really works for 100%? Flawlesly, without any errors, does such software exist?
EDIT: I've installed clonecd, it ejected my dvd after 12 seconds with the message failed.
Do I have to have a special dvd burner of some special brand or something in order to burn xbox360 games? Or will any brand do? I have a samsung dvd burner, like I said everything works with Nero but the minute I use some different program all hell or all errors break loose :)
I'm starting to lose my mind with this matter, I just don't get it.

Today: As in right now I managed to burn a dvd with success, finally lol but at what cost ...... I used verbatim again, but the problem now is my xbox360 won't read the game, it keeps saying open tray. Sigh. The game iso is just fine, I triple checked it with abgx360 and all green. The game is region free, the game is resident evil 5. My xbox360 firmware is ixtreme 1.6.0, it's the latest firmware as far as I know.
So what gives? What seems to be the problem? I would like to know why my burns were failing all the time to begin with and also why my xbox can't read the game.

i had that problem with imgburn .what worked for me is to take the other dvd writing software off but keep nero if you use that .. uninstall imgburn do the disk error to to fix probs on you c drive right click ect .. then reboot . install latest version imgburn turn all antivirus ect anything running in back ground to off and then burn your discs . also best bet is aswell burn at 2x which helps a bit ..
why is your layer break have dots in ?

I have re-installed windows a few days ago, it's a fresh install now, I don't have nero anymore, I only installed imgburn this time and afterwards clonecd.
There's no need to fix my c drive, it's a fresh install.
Everything you just said is useless, it's not necessary at all and it won't make any difference. I already have the latest imgburn as you can see on the logs. If you read it a bit better you would notice that I said that the lowest speed I can set is 4x.
Anyway thanks for your "information" that I already know for over 10 years + alot of more knowledge. Like I said, imgburn sucks, there's something seriously wrong with that program cuz I don't have any problems with Nero what so ever.
My PC is a HIGH END PC, I have a quad core running at 3.6 ghz per each core, 8 GB ram, I can open more than 500 IE8 windows, run 50 games at the same time (meaning running the same game 50 times with different accounts, for example a MMORPGH game like KalOnline or WOW) play music, and watch a movie all at the same time without any slowdowns + I also run eset nod32 antivirus + a firewall and my pc is pretty smooth all the time so don't come with that crap like turning my AV off and other background programs lol, my pc eats them for breakfest without breaking a sweat.
Moral of the story no I'm not running any background programs just my AV, it's a fresh install, minimum speed I can set is 4x, I'm using verbatims, my pc is working just fine, no hardware problems.

Conclusion: I'm using quality dvd's verbatim, I'm burning it right with the right settings, my burns were failing on me until today it started working (miracle I know) I've burned 2 games today and they both succeeded big time but my xbox 360 can't read the games, it says open tray all the time. Yes the games are fine, no they are not corrupted, I've already tested them with abgx360 and XDVDMulleter.
So why doesn't my xbox read the dvd's?
Incase someone is gonna ask do I have the latest firmware (cuz obviously ppl don't read at all when you write something, they seem to skip the important parts lol) yes I have the latest ixtreme 1.6 firmware, I have tested copied dvd's from someone else on my xbox and they worked just fine.
So all you geniusses, what do you think? My dvd burner is crap and I should buy a better one like Pioneer? It's hard to believe that my dvd burner is crap since I can burn everything every mode including DL with Nero, so I keep returning with the same statement that imgburn sukcs big time and clonecd won't even work, it ejects right after I press burn. I don't know why everyone keeps telling ppl on this forum that imgburn is the way to go for iso's and it's the best for xbox360 lol.
Nero is the best burning program in the world period. Why do you think I don't have any errors with Nero cuz it sucks? :) So that's why imgburn kept failing on me cuz it rules? ;) :)
Anyone else with a logical and helpful solution? Someone who knows alot about imgburn? Someone who can tell me for sure that my dvd burner doesn't work that well with imgburn, that's also 1 possibility, who knows.

OMG !!!
I finally figured out what's wrong, I checked my burned disc with abgx360 and I get this error:
Layerbreak for this DVD was reported as 2086912 (expected 1913760)
If this is a burnt Xbox 360 backup, it probably won't boot on your console!
Always burn your backups with the correct layerbreak!
ERROR: Media size (2048 bytes) is too small to be an Xbox 360 game!
But I already have set the right LB in imgburn manually, once you set it, you don't have to set it again, and I always load the .dvd with imgburn.
So I don't get it why does imgburn burn the wrong LB ?????? How to fix it?

I've solved my problem, I bought a pioneer burner and now everything works just fine with everything I mean I can burn xbox 360 games, so in other words I had to specially buy a new burner just for burning xbox360 games. When my "old" burner was just fine in burning everything except xbox360 games.
