Pretty much any DL Pioneer burner will work. I have DVR-216DBK 1.09firmware and it works.

Will Lite-on Drives work well in burning also as well as Sony Optiarc drives?

Just want to add to the list of DVD writers that work well for burning XBox games.

I use Philips SPD2517T and have so far never had a problem. I have now burned 8 games. And I am a noob. I also use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. Before burning I always check/fix the backup with abgx360 making sure I have the right region and there are no red texts.

Then I use IMGBURN (it's free and works perfectly) and selct the .dvd file to burn.

Looking for advice as i'm completely out of ideas.

360 is flashed to play backups, check. dl verbatim dvds, check. pioneer burner 112L, check. booktype is dvd-rom, yup. layer break set to 1913760, done.

i've gone through a dozen verbatims, searched and read every piece of info. i can't think of what's wrong. I either get a static 360 title screen or 'insert this disc into a 360 console' message. imgburn or CloneCD, same results. Any help would be appreciated...

I'm a noob and I may not be of much help. But there are 2 things I'd ask:

1. Are your Verbatims +R, and
2. Have you first checked/fixed your backups with abgx360 before burning them. If not check their website.

Hope other more experienced bros will help you out. Good luck.

good points. yup, just double checked both.

I got a 112d, flashed it to 112L 8.09. The booktype in imgburn shows dvd-rl but the label type when burning shows dvdrom. Supposedly it burns dvd-rom automatically? I can't think of anything else. I'll post a log as soon as this next one is finshed.

@ss808:

Don't know what your problem is but I thought I'd post my burn log for you to compare. The burn was successful. I can't really see a big difference between your log and mine.

I would guess the main difference is in the media used. You are using Verbatim (Disc ID: MKM-001-00) while I'm using Verbatim (Disc ID: MKM-003-00). Just a wild guess.

Another thing. When IMGBURN verifies the burn (which you don't do) it has this line in the log: "I 09:46:44 Source Media Type: DVD+R DL (Book Type: DVD-ROM) (Disc ID: MKM-003-00) (Speeds: 4x, 6x, 8x, 10x)". What I mean is that I can see I'm using "Book Type: DVD-ROM" but I can't see what you are using for Book Type.

Hope this helps.

I had a friend flash it whos very good at it. I emailed him and asked so i'll report back as soon as i find out. Tried burning guitar hero metallica and street fighter 4. Seems like it's gotta be the console flash gone wrong. I've spent hours and hours making sure i had the burns right.

The Mulleter database hasn't been updated in ages. Use abgx360: -

Grab the 3rd wave video file from the same page and unzip it here (if you're using Windows): -

You need to Autofix the ISO using Level 3. After fixing run through ABGX again to see if Verification has succeeded. When everything is green use ImgBurn and burn the .dvd file.

Yep. Once it's fixed, you don't need to run it through abgx360 again. As you did run it through again, the other pic shows that everything is fine, all the stealth checks out, and it verifies with a retail rip that's in the database. That's exactly what you want, so now you're ready to burn.

Use ImgBurn for burning. Associate .dvd files with ImgBurn (which will probably happen automatically when you install it, but if not you can do it manually) and then all you need to do is double click the .dvd file and ImgBurn will fire up and you're ready to go.

You may need to set the booktype for your drive. Click the little open book icon in ImgBurn and select the manufacturer of your drive. You want to change the setting for DVD+R DL media so that the booktype is DVD-ROM. It may be set to that already, in which case leave it. Once it's set to DVD-ROM, you shouldn't have to change it again.

As for burning, before you start, make sure you've got the latest firmware installed on your burner. Check the manufacturer's website for firmware, or Google the make and model number. If you're using Verbatim discs rated at 2.4X (MKM-001-00) then burn at 2.4X. If you're using the newer Verbatim discs rated at 8X (MKM-003-00) then you do not have to burn at 2.4X, although you can choose that speed if you like. The best burn speed varies depending on the drive, the firmware installed on the drive, and how well the drive works with the discs you're using. I burn at 8X and get better quality burns than I do when I use slower speeds, so don't assume you're forced to use 2.4X.

Hope that helps.

first off Thanks 4 the reply...and to double check with you in running it thru abgx360 at Level 3..ic that fixed by the (Blue) out come now does that over lap the original ISO file once it runs thru and fixs it with a new 1? I don't have save anything do I, or make something new do I? my burner I'm using is the Liteon DH-20A4P F/W updated to the lastest (9P59)

DH-20A4P
BenQ Ls Dw1655
Sony Optiarc Ad-7200s

I got a few Lg's also and another liteon DH-20A4P and a 18x (18a1p) model to...

I also have the BenQ Ls Dw1655 and the Sony Optiarc Ad-7200S all F/W been updated to the lastest..I've never had this much trouble with Dvd's and this seems so easy to do..I just hope..I'm not missing any steps in doin it cause like...I said Blank Dl's are not Cheap to buy and to waste..Hopefully it will go thru this time burning at 2.0x speed tryin that:)I'll post if it works out right this time...Thanks again

abgx360 fixes the ISO automatically, so you don't need to save anything. Just watch out for the different coloured text: -

Red - Something is wrong
Yellow - Warning (such as the ISO not verifying cos it's not in the database yet)
Green - Good!
Blue - Used when it downloads files for autofixing

If you see any messages in red that aren't fixed if/when it attempts to autofix the ISO, then something is wrong.

With the yellow warning messages, whether you go ahead and burn the file or not depends on the specific message(s). Ask here if you're not sure.

If everything is green, then you're definitely good to go. If it looks like either of the pics you posted above then you're fine, cos in the first one you get a yellow warning about the verification failing, but then it autofixes the file and the messages at the bottom are in green as autofix was successful. In the other pic, everything is green because that was the second time you'd ran that ISO through abgx360, so it had already been autofixed.

I'm using the Optiarc AD-7200S myself (firmware 1.0A) and I get great results at 8X with the newer 8X rated Verbatims. With the older Verbatims, the best results were obtained at 2.4X. In fact, if you're using the 8X rated discs, only 4X, 6X and 8X are offered as burn speeds, so even if you're able to select 2X ImgBurn will burn at 4X anyway.
