why doesnt ps3 have any one making a cfw. i mean with so many people runing a cfw for thier psp the logical step would be a cfw for ps3 where u can run an iso of ps2 or even an iso of a ps3 game and u could rip them directly to the hdd of the ps3. there are so many features that could be placed into the cfw scene but if only ps3 had a compatable cfw. if anyone out there has any ideals of why there are non please post here and let me know why not . thanks

Yes very good point, there is probably no point making custom firmware just yet because there is no way to enter the flash.

Well, there is a "Playstation 3" option there but you cannot choose it :P
I think Dark-Alex (the one who brought cfw for the PSP) is trying to work out [hack ;)] something for the ps3 :D

gesss come on how many times (* bangs head on desk several times*)
A PSP AND A PS3 ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS.
a psp has shitty metrics in it and costs about a hundred quid jesus i myself write my own custom firmware for my psp its not hard !
a ps3 on the other hand nobody knows where to start i made an attpempt to dump the firmware on to my computer in a vauge attempt to see whats happining behinde the scenes i couldnt even manage that sony has kicked ass with the locks, and keys on the ps3 there isnt a single loop hole to be found and thats why nobody can do anything.
the ps3 rivals most standalone home pcs so unitl a very powerfull computer comes cheap enough for the public to buy everybody can forget about customfirware for the time being.

So you saying you need a machine with the same or greater power than the PS3, to write custom firmware?

No, the PS3 needs to be hacked first.

you can write as many custom fimeares as you want in theroy for the ps3
problem is theres no way in to the ps3's flash to be able to excute them because nobody can hack a ps3 yet.
its the same with iso loaders and whatnot you can fabricate as many as you want on a pc but theres no point because theres no way your able to run them.
theres not even a helloworld for the ps3 personally i think its going to be a while before we get ANYTHING we shouldnt out of the ps3.

I would think the reason their isnt 1 is simply the ps3 support for CFW isnt there. With psp we had DA,maybe he is working on a ps3 1.I would def, be suprised.Seen as how he "left" the hacking seen about 6months ago.xD
Btw,I know that he came back & was the creator of m33,so no falming plz.-_-

If you read up on this thread (this page infact). You'll see that someone has posted that Dark Alex has put the Playstation 3 Logo on his website.

Sony really has gotten everyone with the ps3 with security,
The majority of ps3 owners play online and as we all know sony relase a new firmware nearly every 2 weeks and you MUST update to play online, By the time anyone finds an exploit and trys to use it, it will of been patched up before a hack is made

That choice is pretty much a no brainer
Online by far...
Linux is enough for my homebrew needs, I can survive without backups.

I don't really care about custom firmware. I would love to see a fully functional linux distro. As far as online goes I'm online with firmware 2.30 still. You just have to do a firmware check bypass .
