Rumour: PS3 FW2.4 to have in-game XMB and Trophy support

Update: We?ve now been told that in-game XMB in being checked for full library compatibility and that user-music and Trophies will only work with games created with the brand new tools. More here.
Update 2: The release is now rumoured for June. We?re waiting on comment from SCEE.
Videogaming247 has it on good authority that the upcoming PS3 Firmware 2.4 will include in-game XMB and Trophy support.
We?re told that the added XMB feature allows users to play their own music in-game.
Programming tools to support the update have apparently now gone out to developers.
We?re unaware that a release date for the software has been set. Sony has already said that in-game XMB wil be added to PS3?s functionality this summer.
This is unconfirmed. Just remember where you heard it first.

It's an integration that has to do with the future PS HOME release. Basically when you do something like beat a game, get last man standing or similar action you get a trophy that will be displayed in your Virtual Home for display. For now I am a bit unsure how it will be displayed unless Sony will have an online aspect linked to a website tied to your PSN name?

whats up oner, is modding that easy? i see you pop up once in a blue moon to lay down some facts. never to bust out the hammer, only almost on nobrainer once, lol.

I highly doubt this because a month back Sony had a press release saying that they intend to have it out before the end of the year making it sound like it will be in the fall sometime.

I have done my share of banning's here on aD especially in the console forums (since I am basically the founder/lead of them), but as of late they have been pretty okay....save for the occasional spammer, pyramid schemer or fanboy poster. The information I have received/learned about In Game XMB, Clock, In Game Music & possible PS Eye upgrades (that last one is a bit weak on the info) is leaning towards just a few days before the launch of MGS4.

Thanks for the info oner.
Personally I dont care about that feature either
I think tho that things like that will get PS3 closer to teenagers.
You can see it in forums too, that kids like that kind of staff,
mostly to their sigs, *i have X games, *i have X metals to X game etc, Now if they can show off their staff official that would excite them more.

^^ the way I see it is this: it's incredibly neat, cool, whatever, but it's not at all necessary. It helps but it's not integral. Just like with that news of the direct upload to Youtube. It's very cool, but if I never had it, it's not a big deal.

In game music... waiting for that along time, in game XMB, great addition, not to hot on the trophy idea (commence flame wars among the toddlers) but all in all, 2.40 looks like agreat prospect.
