I recently found a few sites where you can download PS3 games directly to your PS3 HD. I am not talking about torrents, but rather sites that claim legal downloads. Does anybody have any experience with this? Also, lets say this is legit and I download a bunch of games to my HD. Is there any way to copy that HD? I would like to copy the HD and jam it in a 2nd PS3 and have all the games on 2 consoles.

I'm not asking about backups and to be honest I'd rather get a straight answer than read all those pages. This is the site I am talking about.....

Is this legit or BS? I heard you can also download your games directly from Sony, is this fact or rumor?

I can guarantee any games they are offering you to download are scams because the only way to download games legally is through the PSN. So basically either its going to be illegal or your going to get your money stolen, or both for that matter.

Thanks, you said you can download legally from PSN. Are we talking full games like metal gear 4 and heavenly sword or demos and arcade games?

There are full games on there but they're mostly mini games and ps1 games. The only full PS3 games that can be downloaded on the PSN right now are WarHawk and GT5:P.

Seriously, imagine trying to download MGS4? They had to cut stuff out of it so that it would fit onto the Blu-ray DL. That's 50 gigs! lol

LOL, I can't believe there are already using all 50 gigs and have to cut shit out. I see how storing games to the HD would be hard. I ask because I have a 360 with 120gb HD thats totally jam packed with games. It would be nice to do the same for the PS3. Regarding one of my original questions, is there a way for me to make a perfect copy of my 120gb HD so I can jam it in another 360 and have my games on both?

Tell that to MS that they were saying that BD is worthless for games.

Dont get so excited tho, Most of the space is used by the HD cutscenes.

Starting with the theoretical fact that 1 hour of uncompressed 1080p/60i video runs well over 500 GB I can assume the following:

Using a full 50 GB bluray disk would only be a matter of compressing the video to "the right size" instead of following the indutrie standards.

Thats what they did with MGS. None the less using a full 50 GB disk is a good marketing trick.
Some people acctualy believe its the gameplay that takes up that space.

BR is for now useless for gaming. Or better said it just adds 200$ to the console.

Wrong, the cut scenes are done with the same cgi in real time like the actual game play is, they aren't HD videos; they could have 100 hours of cut scenes granted they had enough space for audio; which is what really took up all the space, audio.

Nice misinformation there...just because YOU feel it is "useless" does not make it true. I am sure hundreds of Game Devs would absolutely disagree with you, I mean why would you want to make a game that is limited to only 8.5 Gigs when you can make something without the worries of space limitations. History has shown us progression in tech ultimately benefits the user

1) Cartridge - hardware limitations & size, expensive & costly
2) CD - larger available size compared to previous generation (6-700 mb)
3) DVD - at least 6-7x greater capacity over CD
4) DVD9 - or dual layer = 2x the size over standard DVD
5) BD - a little more than 3x the size over DVD9
6) BD DL - 2x that of BD and almost 6x that of a DVD9 dual layer

Whether you agree or not these are the facts. Sony is the only manufacturer that has consistently given their consumer "more" and truly pushed the limits of hardware technology with EVERY console they have offered, while others have only held back & played it safe for some odd reason. Though Nintendo can be included with advancing tech with the DS (Touch screen & play screen) along with the Wii for their interactive controllers BUT it does have limited graphics that are very dated. How anyone doesn't understand this or cannot grasp that is beyond me. Seriously, look at what we have gotten over the last 10+ years

Quote:
PS1 - CD based gaming leaps and bounds over cartridges & first real successful attempt at 3D based console gaming along with FMV & CD audio playback as well as in some countries VCD (Video Compact Disc playback)

PS2 - DVD based gaming with more capacity for even better, larger more immersive worlds along with bleeding edge technology with the Emotion Engine PLUS DVD Movie playability, CD audio, Digital Optical out 5.1 surround gaming & home theater & lastly Backwards Compatability

PS3 - BD based gaming with all the above & more. Internet, Browsing, Standard Hard Drive in ALL consoles, HDMI Standard, Partitioning of HD for Linux, DiVx & other media formats, Gaming, Home Theater & HD capabilities, PC connect-ability, PSP remote connection, Free online gaming & more that I know I have missed.

It really boggles my mind how people cannot fathom what Sony has offered this generation. It is truly staggering the amount of flexibility, options, technological upgrades & possibilities that people "seem" to omit, not realize and fail to properly address when discussed. For anyone to say/believe the PS3 is not truly Next Gen means they are just blind/close minded for some reason.

It's in there as an addition/option to the PS3.

If so it still applies to itself as a medium that offers more space for more in depth environments.

Couldn't have said it better, Oner!

And what Canuckerz said is true. I remember reading that the audio is what took up a good chunk of the space. It may have been on IGN or PTOM.
