I'm not saying you aren't having the problems you say you are but the 3.3 update cannot detect modchips and will only effect trucha signed games, it can't stop other backups from working. If it did then everyone would be affected not just a few. There must be some other factor involved.

@Kupo12
Among other things, yes truncha can remove the 001 error. It can also be used to remove an update from a game and replace it with a different region's update (example: switching the NTSC-U update from US brawl with a PAL version so users in europe could play easier) or to completely remove a game from an iso file and replace it with homebrew. I've seen super paper mario iso's floating around that have had the game removed and replaced with roms and emulators, or the homebrew channel installer.
@momonga01
RW disks, no matter if they're + or - are not good media for the wii. You can try them both, see if you get any working ones, but I can tell you now that you're likely to be plagued by disk read errors.
@generalm
I've never read anything about Wii Top Chip, does it support dual layer disks?
@everyone having trouble
With the last update there were scattered reports of people having problems as well with backups that had previously worked suddenly no longer being read. Most of these problems were people who had been using lower-quality media, off brand or RW disks. Switching to better media, in many cases, fixed these errors

the Firmware of the wii is prolly based inside some sort of BIOS Chip like on a motherboard
no matter how many times u wipe your Wii's memory it will stay the same
WTF? :p

It would be a stupid design if a memory format did remove firmware updates. It would mean any added protection Nintendo came up with could just be removed whenever you wanted, making the updates pointless.

what we are looking at is the new games that had the oo1 error removed no longer work but when burnt without the patch still show the error
so figure it out i have 17 unplayable games we need a new patch that will remove 001 and is untracable by the update

001 error just means you have to update your wiikey doesn't it ?
I have D2pro9 and everything works without a problem.

Hi, i am new at this so bear with me.
I have a wii pal at 3.3E. When i try to run the wiikey update 1.9s, nothing happens, that is, it does the initial firmware check and then i press A and then... nothing. So i am guessing (from the youtube viewings) that i am still on 1.9g (the cute girls butt upgrade). Funny thing is my old backups work (DragonBall 3 etc), just the new ones dont seem to load (KungFuPanda, Mario Kart etc) and mostly i get the 001 error. As i see it, theres no way i can downgrade to firmware 3.2 (actually i had 3.1 prior, so 3.2 is no longer available at Nintendo) so how the heck can i upgrade my wiikey to 1.9s? It seems it doesn't update when it finds out that we are on a 3.3 firmware... Does this make any sense? i have asked wiikey.cn about this and am still waiting for their reply.
Any help would b welcome... thks in advance

I can tell u right now that the problem you're having has nothing to do with the wii's firmware. Also, upgrading the wiikey to 1.9s only fixes the problem with playing original copies of brawl. It wont fix that problem.

I currently got a Wiikey (Pal Wii) at 1.9g and 3.1E and got three questions.
1. I have never used trucha signer or other applications. Just full PAL-releases of games. Is it ok to upgrade to 3.3E? No problem with real PAL copies on a PAL Wii?
2. Do you guys know any PAL game/s that has the 3.2E (3.two) update included?
3. Does any new game include the 3.3E update yet? And will you get a "update message" before you proceed with any update from a game disc? Previously I have always updated wireless over the Internet.
thnx!

If all you do is direct copies of PAL games on a PAL wii with no truncha or brickblock or scrubbing then you should be fine.
SSBB and mario kart both contain 3.2, 3.3 has only just come out so theres no games that contain the update yet (though I'm fairly sure that has been covered a hundred flipping times already, try searching) and yes it does an update required message before allowing you to play the game.

Does this mean that not only custom games (e.g. GH3 with 80's tracks) does not work with 3.3E, but also all brickblocked games? And what about wiiScrubbed oned? Do they get a trucha signature as well?

And yes, I have only used and intend to use real PAL copies. No truncha or brickblocking or anything.

I may be wrong here, but can't you STILL LOAD modified discs(such as trucha) on 3.3 firmware using the Twilight hack and Gecko RF. My wii was updated to 3.3U and I had the duplicate channels. I burned the iso of Duplicate channel remover 2 but it would not load, signed disc. I then did the new twilight hack and loaded gecko RF(region Free). Pushed eject when prompted and the Duplicate channel remover disc loaded and removed my dups. I don't have any other signed/modified discs to try out at the time.

Yes I know homebrew and trucha signed discs are 2 different things! The homebrew program that I loaded from the SD card was Gecko RF. Gecko RF(homebrew) then allowed me to load a trucha signed disc(Duplicate Channel Remover.) Or at least that is what I have read. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/642835

Wii Duplicated Channel Remover 1.0m (Multiregion version)
This application removes the duplicated channels installed after upgrading the Wii with a JAP or USA game.

This application uses the trucha bug to remove channels. Don't upgrade your Wii!!

Gullzway is perfectly correct, you can play trucha signed discs through GeckoRF.

Hi, I'm a new member and I was wondering if you can still install the Homebrew channel after updating to 3.3U. My wii is chipped so I don't need the twilight hack(i think).

First, you could stop posting this same question in every thread on the board, that's 3 different threads so far and twice on this thread.
Second, I think you need to take advantage of the SEARCH function and do a little reading.
Third, you can always try the Twilight hack with Gecko RF to load those games that aren't working, Put Gecko RF .elf in the root directory on the SD card. Gecko RF will load, then you eject the Twilight game disc and put in the .iso that may be trucha signed.
