just to add my 10p's worth
I've got a wiikey with version 1.9s installed. Just updated the wii's firmware to 3.3e. all games working over 50 backups (pal unsigned, untouched etc)
SSBB DVD9 pal working
SMG working
Mario Kart working
Also have got the TP hack installed and homebrew beta 8 and the gecko os all working fine with this new update

Hi Guys,
I was in the same situation as described by the guys with 3.3e and wiikey 1.9g and impossible to update with anything.
In fact, I spent 10 DVD - R Sony and was close to give up.
Then I bought verbatine DVD - R and everything went back to normal. Updated to 1.9s and I am a happy guy again.

You know its amazing what happens when people actually follow the advice thats given here :)
It must be posted on here a thousand times... use VERBATIM disks, but still people use cheap crap and then ask why it isn't working.

can some one point me in the direction on how to install the 1.9s and do i need the config disc i have the iso not sure if i need to use that aswell as the 1.9s iso? also is there a hack to make it region free on pal wiis ?

I just use verbatim, no other crap and was unable to run the 1.9s with 3.3E all the same :(

Hi, i bought my wii premodified with Argon. I just want to ask if the ff:
1. Is it safe to connect it to the internet and access weather, news channel, wii shop etc?
2. Is safe to perform an official wii system update for 3.3?
3. Is it capable of playing downloaded and burned wii iso games?
4. Can I still play original games?
I bought my wii with 3.1U version. Please tell me other do's and dont's with my argon chip.

1. my wii is modded and i check weather news and shop channel from time to time, but some people say it can get ur Wii banned or what not
2. if you are smart you won't update to 3.3, it blocks Truncha Signed disks which makes playing copies from a different region a bit hard (unless you have homebrew channel and Gecko OS)
3. i dunno if Argon is a mod chip To be honest but if it is.. yes
but 3.3 won't make it easy

well i was so "smart" to update to 3.3 so my information can be a bit off but:
1. 3.3 stops truncha signed disk (which are altered disks from which the updates are "removed"
prolly some or all disk that need an update will gonna need the PAL version of the update and im not sure if a game disk will bring along the Full 3.3 update.
2. i think it will.. not totally sure the internet channel isnt that interresting i might add. the support for media files is a bit crap
3. yes there is... but i can't give to much info on this i might get my account banned. but you can prolly download them and install them using either homebrew channel or the Twilight Hack
to install the HBC u need the twilight hack at least once though (or a downloaded ISO form)

it seems that we are making im's huh...
btw, what version does Mario galaxy need? i'm planning to get an original game, but afraid that it might not work with 3.1U?
I also want top spin 3, any infos?
do you want to keep in touch with yahoo messenger?

SMG (galaxy) uses something before 3.3 as far as i know...
not sure about TS3 sorry
SMG may want to install an update but i'm not sure what update it's gonna be, as far as i know it's not 3.3 though so u should be save
i have Yahoo messenger but i'm not gonna put my SN down here :P or i might tons of people who wanna add me :P i seen it all before

Another question generalm,
if I choose to update, is there a possibility that my wii will be bricked? cause that's the most thing i fear.

You said that your original copy (not backup) of SSBB NTSC would not work on your PAL wii.
For your information, this has nothing to do with 3.3.
Even with 3.2 or 3.1, it is not possible to load ORIGINAL discs from another region {without a freeloader or something). You could load BACKUPS of NTSC games from different regions SOMETIMES.
Your other issues, just sounds like u have trucha signed discs or bad media. Sounds like ALL 3.3U/E/J related issues are one of those two things and nothing else.

I think he Was using Freeloader to load the NTSC original SSBB on his Pal wii. This is what the 3.3 wii update stopped, hence the reason it no longer works. Try using Gecko OS or Gecko RegionFree with the Twighlight hack to load the SSBB game.

the NTSC version of brawl worked with freeloader before i had my wii modded... and since it's modded it has trouble reading disks sometimes and it fails to read Dual Layer disks.... as soon as that guy gets back from his vacation he can replace my diskdrive if he killed it

i installed HBC after i updated to 3.3E
installed it using the Twilight Hack since i had no other way
and it did not brick my Wii

finally some good news from this side of the globe! i found out that there was a WiiKey in my Wii not a WiiTop....
i updated to 1.9S and configed the Chip and BOOM! now i can play the official NTSC Brawl disk on my PAL Wii :D Hurray!

Sorry about the double post i forgot to add something...
it did require me to update (update on the DVD) and it installed the USA Forecast and Weather Channels.... but when i remove them using the Dupe Channel remover i have to update again... is there a way to just HIDE the channels instead?

Update: i checked both the 1.0 and the 2.1 versions of the Dupe chan remover and it seems 1.0 just "hides" the channels and doesn't remove any other stuff :D so thats good enough for me :D
